Lab Validation Engineer

As a Lab Validation Engineer you will be a lead voice of concern and praise for Micron’s newest memory designs. In this role, you will develop and hone your technical skills including programming, data analysis, part debug and process. Your technical expertise will be sought after as you become a spec measurement authority. You will take part in defining new specifications for memory technologies. Be challenged to develop innovative methods for taking measurements that elude others in the Memory industry. You will lead technical discussions with other, worldwide Memory technical leaders, as you communicate your findings. Successful candidates will be highly motivated and able to self-direct.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • HS signal characterization on the newest generation (DDR5) memory technologies
  • Work with product engineering and signal integrity engineers to develop methodology for characterizing Rx/Tx Jitter, Stressed Eye, and related measurements.
  • Work with lab equipment (high bandwidth oscilloscope, BERT, automated switch boxes, and programmable supplies) to build a capable test environment
  • Automate data collection and analysis
  • Continuous development and refinement of HS signal characterization methodologies and tooling
  • Develop domain expertise and serve as a primary contact for HS signal characterization within Micron and in communication with external collaborators

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with Shell Scripts (Perl, Unix, Batch, Python, etc.).
  • Experience with Automated Test Equipment (Nextest, Taradyne, Advantest, Verigy, etc.).
  • Experience with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Signal Generators, etc...)
  • Basic understanding of memory architectures.
  • Course work in any of the following (Semiconductor Device Physics, VLSI, Microelectronics, Computer Architecture, Statistics).
  • Familiarity with object oriented programming concepts. C++ concepts even better.
  • Can pick up new concepts quickly.
  • IO Functionality
  • Ability to set direction on how to take new measurements.
  • Offer input into new specification definitions
  • Understanding Jitter components, Decision Feedback Equalization, Tx/Rx,
  • Signal integrity, coupling vs. Interstitial Interference (reflection).
  • Statistical concepts.
  • Ability actually read the manuals/specifications. Educate yourself.
  • Have a vision how to implement automating data collection.
  • Having the Ability to Implement that vision

 

Education requirements:

Bachelors Degree or higher

  • Engineering - Computer
  • Engineering - Electrical
  • Related field of study

 

Additional Information:

  • At least 2 programming classes, 1 of which must be C or C++ or 6 months equivalent programming experience.
  • An AC/DC circuit class with an accompanying lab.
