Intern - Advanced Modeling Engineer

As an Advanced Modeling Engineer Intern at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be working in the Technology Development (TD) group supporting the modeling and simulation of next generation memory technologies! This position is in Boise, ID, where you will work in a multi-functional team of engineers and researchers, highly experienced in semiconductor processes and advanced modeling of materials, process, structure, and reactors.

 

Our team’s primary responsibility is to enable faster and cheaper discovery of potential solutions to Micron’s most significant challenges in Memory roadmap. Your role comprises mainly executing a project that directly complements one of our group’s pivotal initiatives. This project can involve developing, validating, and deploying models for new materials, processes, structures, and stress. You will report results to the TD team of engineers/researchers and collaborating with them on next steps. This position seeks individuals that can develop predictive first principles and machine learning models!

 

We are looking for a student that will be able to intern for 6 - 12 months.

Qualifications:

  • Independence – be comfortable executing activities and needs
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Outstanding teamwork
  • Experience on algorithm development, numerical methods, and scientific computing
  • Strong background in DFT, MD, and MC/kMC techniques
  • Experience with computational materials science methodologies
  • Familiar with machine learning and deep learning concepts and applications
  • Familiar with FEA methods and implementations
  • Experience with Bash, Python, Perl, TCl, MATLAB, or C++
  • Experience with modeling software
  • Previous software development and Linux experience
  • Background in semiconductor process development or integration is encouraged
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques and parallel computing
  • Strong debug and problem-solving skills
  • Experience writing reports and/or conference papers
  • Experience crafting and conducting system experiments
  • Understanding of memory technologies (DRAM, NAND, PCM, etc.)
  • Experience with regression, neural networks, and frameworks
  • Ability to work in a team environment and experience with remote collaboration tools

Education Requirements:

  • Pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Graduation date should not be prior to December 1, 2021
