As a Indirect Category Supplier Manager at Micron Technology, Inc., you will manage strategic suppliers within the Indirect Procurement at Micron.  In this position you will primarily be working within the IT and professional services categories.


In this role, you are expected to collaborate with stakeholders and members of Global Procurement. You will engage in and lead the development and implementation of supplier strategies to optimize cost, supply, and quality. Your duties in this role are expected to include the following:

Drive a Category Strategy

  • Develop and execute an innovative category strategy to optimize cost, quality and supplier performance
  • Design category strategies and negotiation strategies to achieve savings targets
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align on strategic direction and obtain buy-in
  • Lead regional team members in implementing and executing the strategy globally
  • Serve as the center of knowledge and share knowledge with key stakeholders and members of the category teams to enable more effective planning, forecasting and execution

Lead Supplier Negotiations

  • Lead negotiations with suppliers in the category
  • Create negotiation strategies and align the strategies with stakeholders
  • Incorporate savings targets and contract requirements into negotiations

Own the Global Relationship for Suppliers within the Category

  • Serve as lead for company to company escalations within the category
  • Serve as the center of knowledge for assigned supplier(s)
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with supplier(s) while effectively resolving supplier performance/capability issues to ensure alignment with Micron's strategic direction
  • Collaborate internally to drive and develop key performance measures/metrics and monitor supplier performance against these expectations
  • Lead in organizing and delivering on supplier events, such as Quarterly Business Reviews, Annual Supplier Evaluations, and Executive Review Meetings
  • Manage conflict and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide advice to senior and executive management on strategic decisions related to the supplier(s)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree required / Master Degree preferred in Business, Business Administration/ Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics or similar fields of study
  • Candidate with prior experience in similar roles strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-changing environment that requires a high degree of multitasking with minimal supervision
