Fault Detection (FD) Engineers are responsible for developing, implementing, and sharing process and equipment control solutions. They collaborate with IT, equipment automation, and data engineering/science teams to maintain high quality data processing/storage and data analysis within the FD environment. They seek methods of analyzing/monitoring equipment and process conditions and how they may correlate to processing variation, anomalies, and yield. FD engineers advance the understanding of variable equipment configurations and associated processes, promote global alignment in process control solutions and share methodologies.


An FD engineer develops models to predict future process variation and further improve variation detection capabilities with an end goal of efficiency, safety, process variation reduction, and yield improvement. FD Engineers are also responsible for sensor data collection enablement, supervision of consistent data retrieval and health of the Fault Detection system.

We are expected to report all safety-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual and will periodically perform safety audits and seek out "good-catches" to avoid potential safety issues, with the question "can we make this safer?". We want you to identify any quality related issues and works towards resolution and to optimize quality processing and performance with the attitude of "I want to make this better!"


We are eager to find people who are comfortable with project management and planning who can design and coordinate projects with several different departments. We expect the projects to be completed within the required time frame, utilizing project management tools and methods.


Technical Expectations

  • Identify and analyze issues in fault detection solutions and capable of investigating external factors to find root cause solutions to eliminate repeating defects
  • Statistically models and analyzes large data sets using SQL for data extraction, formatting and cleansing
  • Understands relationships between process control systems, recipe management systems, data collection systems, and host automation
  • Utilizes key performance indicators to analyze the performance of the team and works to continuously improve
  • Develops knowledge and understanding of available tools and techniques for statistical analysis
  • Has fundamental knowledge of semiconductor processing
  • Gains understanding of tools available sensors and critical data sources for fault detection and analysis in areas of responsibility

  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a succinct and actionable manner and proven use of critical thinking skills

  • Partners with supervisor to review skills gaps and build plans to close
  • Proven ability to identify, develop, propose, and implement effective plans to improve overall efficiency
  • Takes ownership of documentation of their Micron behaviors, job performance, and job expectations
