As a Point of Use Abatement Equipment Engineer in Micron’s Research and Development group, you will ensure all abatement systems are running properly and maintained to the highest levels of safety and efficiency. Working with tool owners, support personnel, and suppliers, you will own responsibility for tool availability, efficiency improvements, and innovation of support equipment technology.

 

The Abatement Equipment Engineer ensures tool quality through proper maintenance schedules, statistical process control (SPC), and tool monitoring. You’ll communicate with tool owners and suppliers to ensure problems are being addressed quickly and properly, including driving vendor continuous improvement projects (CIP) and working with vendors to provide effective solutions. CIP, equipment installations, and equipment modifications will require utilization of project management and execution to plan.  You’ll also:

 

  • Ensure equipment maintenance procedures and checklists are available, up to date, and understood by shift teams for consistency across shifts
  • Involvement in any hard-down situations and long-term-down follow-ups
  • Track efficiency, monitoring, reporting, and improving tool availability and reducing recurring failures
  • Create, manage and maintain procedures and documentation relevant to job role
  • Own excursion, including follow-up and prevention
  • Focus on cost reduction and tool availability
  • Participate in global Copy Smart and focus teams

 

This first-shift position also ensures that the Fab support shift personnel have the proper training and documentation to do their job correctly, so you’ll be responsible for training and mentoring shift personnel.

 

To succeed in this job, you’ll have:

  • 2+ years’ experience with Point of Use Abatement systems, plus safety HAZOP or FMEA analysis
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; good verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to drive complex projects to completion
  • Strong knowledge of Fab Support Operations
  • A B.S. or M.S. in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics plus 2+ years of engineering experience, or current title of engineer with 4+ years of experience.
