Engineer - Non-Volatile Product Yield Enhancement

As a Product Yield Enhancement (PYE) Engineer for Micron Technology, Inc., you will work with a team responsible for taking next generation devices from design to mass production. You will focus on driving test yield and product reliability at product introduction which allows for rapid production ramp and early time to market. Your primary areas of responsibility will use a combination of electrical and physical characterization techniques combined with statistical analysis to identify physical defects introduced by process level. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating and coordinating backend yield improvement activities with Management, Product, Process, and Test Engineering.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform Electrical Characterization
    • Operate uMate/Nextest
    • Understand the physical layout of the part and perform topo verification
    • Characterize backend test failures
    • Use schematic/layout to correlate failures when necessary
    • Understand various PFA techniques available for de-processing failures
  • Provide Data Analysis
    • Understand backend test flows and methodologies
    • Expert understanding of backend test extraction tools (TC tools)
    • Proficient in fab and probe data extractions for data analysis
    • Analyze SWRs, conversions, excursions to give timely feedback to the appropriate groups
    • Generate a weekly Pareto of top backend yield issues and associated defects
    • Monitor reliability metrics and identifies top reliability concerns in the backend
    • Correlate backend yield metrics to probe/param/RDA metrics
  • Originate Communication/Part Management
    • Generate an organized and efficient weekly PYE product report for feedback to the fab
    • Lead a weekly product meeting with the appropriate audience to discuss the backend yield status of the part
    • Request and follows up on action items to address top backend yield or reliability Pareto items
    • Generate organized and timely yield analysis reports with clear recommendations


Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • Computer aided schematic and layout experience
  • Semiconductor process coursework and/or experience
  • UNIX and Programming experience
  • Experience working in teams and ability to work well with others
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Solid GPA
  • Work experience in related field through co-op, internship, or projects
  • Course work in VLSI design and semiconductor device physics (Preferred)
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivation and enthusiasm


Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
