As a Systems Level EMI Signal Integrity Engineer in the Electromagnetic Characterization Lab you are responsible for leading the design and analysis of systems to test and characterize radiated emissions and/or immunity of Micron System level products.  This includes suggesting and developing test methodologies and systems to ensure our products can be tested to appropriate customer, compliance and regulatory standards. You will work closely with the various Business Units and other Micron engineering teams, and possibly externally contracted engineering teams to make sure that test solutions developed meet the needs of the customer and can be delivered on time and with the most value.  As a Systems Level EMI Signal Integrity Engineer in the SI R&D team, you are responsible for the following:

  • Design, Develop and Validate test systems to support EMI testing of various Micron System level products.  This includes:
    • Working closely with internal and external customers and resources to ensure understanding of expectations and drive reasonable and standardized test plans and solutions.
    • Lead projects to identify requirements, set deadlines and ensure on time completion of test system and/or DUT boards.
    • Creating, validating and improving test procedures to be fanned out to product Qualification teams as EMI becomes a more regular product test requirement.
  • Test and report the EMI performance of various Micron and Competitor products as requested by internal Micron BU’s.
  • Thorough analysis and understanding of measurement data to correlate emission results to system and board level features and or data pattern dependencies.
  • Review and Consult with Quality teams on EMI test procedures, data integrity, calibration methodologies and equipment setup to define the standards and methods required to ensure component level testing provides good value to Micron.
  • Improve upon and/or develop new data analysis procedures to enhance understanding of part/subsystem emissions and provide feedback to designers on possible improvements on emissions mitigation.
  • Support and provide technical guidance on ESD, EMI and other EMC issues that arise, including customer FA.
  • Provide guidance and training for laboratory personnel to support testing requirements and needs.


Desired Qualifications:

  • MSEE+ w/10yrs relevant experience
  • Proven track record of successful management of technical projects
  • Strong Background in Electromagnetics, RF and antenna theory
  • Strong background and thorough understanding of EMI Characterization tools,
  • Experience with RF measurement equipment and understanding of their usage (SAs, VNAs, etc)
  • Experience with Anechoic Chambers, TEM/GTEM and NF testing environment
  • Experience with 3D SI and EMI simulation and modeling is a plus
  • Understanding of SSD hardware architectures, form factors and communication protocols a plus
