Director of State Government Affairs

As the Director of State Government Affairs, you will be responsible for the development and execution of Micron's public policy agenda in the states in which Micron has a significant presence.


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Developing and implementing Micron's state public policy agenda and strategy in conjunction with the Vice-President of Global Government Affairs. The primary focus will be Idaho, but the role will also be responsible for coordinating efforts in states in which Micron has a strong presence
  • Establishing, developing, and maintaining effective working relationships with state and local lawmakers
  • Significant engagement with chambers of commerce, civic groups, local universities, and other influencers in states in which Micron has a large presence
  • Managing Micron's outside government affairs consultants and working effectively with trade associations and coalitions
  • Understanding Micron's global businesses in order to effectively identify, develop, and advocate company positions and interests
  • Working closely with Micron's senior management to develop policy positions and strategy
  • Working closely with Micron’s Political Action Committee (PAC) Manager and PAC Board to further develop the Micron PAC
  • Developing and maintaining a strong relationship with, and supporting the efforts of, the Micron Foundation


Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • 7+ years of meaningful experience
  • Experience working with elected officials, legislative/regulatory leaders, and staff in substantive policy areas (technology industry experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in influencing decision-makers, thinkers, and policy-makers locally, regionally, nationally, and globally
  • Effective relationship building and teamwork skills
  • Experience and demonstrated success in organizing, leading, and managing a diverse team
  • Proven ability in the development, management, analysis, and advocacy of policies and positions
  • Experience with political campaigns and fundraising
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with Micron senior management
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with Idaho state politics a plus


  • Bachelor's Degree required. Graduate Degree encouraged.
