Director, NAND Program Management

The Micron Operational Excellence team seeks a Director of Program Management for our NAND and Managed NAND products.  This role reports directly to the Vice-President of the organization.

 

The mission of the Operational Excellence organization is to optimize Micron’s performance through the transformation, implementation and execution of business processes and best practices. 

 

We do so with teams focused on:

 

  • Optimal node subscription through supporting die selection and product development processes from product concept to customer (DRAM/NAND PMOs)
  • Synchronizing Product Lifecycle management efforts
  • Orchestrating supply-demand allocations and related business processes and analytics
  • Driving margin efficiency improvements

 

We strive to ensure that Micron develops the right products in a timely and efficient manner, while optimizing for enterprise profitability, segment mix, and inventory, in collaboration with key stakeholders across Technology Product Group, Global Operations, Business Unites, Sales and Finance. 

 

In this role, the NAND and MNAND PMO Director will lead a team of approximately 10 program managers who have responsibilities to run NAND and Managed NAND programs.  This role will directly interface with the Business Unit CVP and General Managers as well as executives across our engineering, supply chain, finance and quality organizations.  This person will be chartered with leading cross functional teams to align on critical decisions such as which products we develop to ramp our technology nodes.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement strategy to align best practices for NAND based products and solutions across the cross functional teams at Micron
  • Drive best known methods for program, project and portfolio management 
  • Work with the cross functional leadership team to lead the NAND alpha die selection process for the company
  • Lead strategy and processes to ensure alignment for NAND die selection and NAND solutions portfolio across Manufacturing, Tech Dev, Engineering and the BU’s
  • Run a quarterly interlock on NAND portfolio decisions and execution
  • Drive efforts to ensure we are successfully launching technology nodes; incorporating risk mitigation to ensure nodes are fully subscribed
  • Provide leadership and direction in the face of uncertainty, change, and aggressive deadlines
  • Lead the review of key programs with senior leaders
  • Support and mentor program managers, which may include a mix of dotted-line and direct reporting program managers, depending on the specific requirements of the given program
  • Assist program managers in all aspects of program management, from benefits identification and requirements gathering to implementation and benefits realization
  • Foster teamwork and drive escalation and resolution of issues including cost and resourcing issues, as needed
  • Manage key partners and incorporate feedback for continual improvement of program management
  • Communicate with customers at various levels including senior executives, engineering, and product marketing to convey our capabilities and vison while understanding their challenges and requirements

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, or other related field of study
  • Professional Project Management (PMP) certification preferred
  • 12+ years in the role of a product engineer, senior project manager or engineering management

 

Qualifications:

  • Building solid relationships with senior executives across various business units and cross functional organizations within Micron
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy to action; influence, negotiation, change management and presentation
  • Excellent communication skills in a wide array of situational settings from c-level interaction to core team members, imparting both vison and execution focus
  • Proven ability to build and lead integrated teams from various internal and external organizations across geographies
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning, communication, and presentation skills
  • Effective consultative and influencing approach
  • Willing and able to challenge customers and stakeholders to better understand their needs
  • Ability to promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change
  • Ability to translate broad general concepts into tangible deliverables
  • Ability for independent decision making, and to assume higher-level leadership responsibilities in critical situations
