Job Description

As the Inbound Supply Management (ISM) Director of Operations at Micron, you will lead the Global ISM teams at all Micron Front End manufacturing locations to ensure the availability of Spares and Materials and the integrity of Micron’s MRP systems. This includes shortage detection, expediting and escalation of delivery issues as required to ensure continuity of manufacturing operations.

In this role you will help drive configuration and implementation of Micron’s MRP improvements as well as develop and execute a holistic improvement strategy across all Front End manufacturing locations with your Global ISM leaders. You will manage implementation of this global improvement strategy by establishing site-specific implementation timing, identifying required implementation resources and developing communication channels and tools to introduce the new strategy. In addition, you will develop and lead the teams at each site to implement these improvements while maintaining current day to day operational activities

You will lead the development of the improvement strategy by starting an assessment of current and future needs, an analysis of market and company trends, perform benchmarking of world-class approaches, and identify opportunities to leverage changes in processes, systems and product/services. Then prioritize and manage global implementation based upon estimating timing and level of savings capture.

Additional responsibilities include helping to establish within ISM a culture of continuous improvement in our global processes with a relentless focus on ensuring continuity of supply to the manufacturing operations. This includes crisp communication protocols, clear role and responsibility understanding, and concise, leading metrics.

Expectations include ensuring department compliance to company policies and departmental procedures. You will provide global leadership for building and implementing department strategies, processes and policy through active oversight of your functional teams and projects, mentor area leaders through collaboration and the development of sustainably successful solutions. You will also be responsible for conveying corporate business initiatives, aligning team and individual goals to business objectives and driving overall high performance within your team and the department.


Role Responsibilities and Tasks


Build and Execute Strategic Improvement Plan

  • Work with direct and cross-functional teams to plan ISM global strategic direction for FE & BE manufacturing sites with a focus on an effective enterprise wide MRP system
  • Recommend resource levels across global ISM projects and functions
  • Manage the implementation of improvement strategies and participate in the resolution of any constraints or issues
  • Deliver savings and scorecard metric targets
  • Communicate global status, trends, and results to the VP of Procurement along with all pertinent stakeholders

Lead and Manage ISM Teams

  • Support building of the right global ISM team (recruitment, training, staffing, and retention)
  • Present strategic plan for global ISM optimization and report status
  • Build consensus on strategic plan and refine (as required
  • Provide input on procurement initiatives
  • Assist VP of Procurement in building an integrated strategic plan
  • Represent Micron in industry and professional forums

Interface with Stakeholders, Procurement Partners, and Suppliers on Global ISM Strategies

  • Ensure stakeholder requirements met
  • Communicate strategic goals, supply fulfillment plans, initiatives and targets to stakeholders, suppliers, and global procurement teams
  • Maintain relationships with senior executives
  • Initiate and sustain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders

Collaborate with Stakeholders to Deliver Strategic Solutions

  • Develop and maintain expertise in global ISM through relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and industry trends.
  • Implement processes to monitor stakeholder satisfaction
  • Drive customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement
  • Maintain close interaction with procurement category teams to ensure category-related needs are addressed
  • Manage conflict and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide advice to senior and executive management on strategic decisions related to the category



  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience- Master’s (Preferred)
  • Business Administration/Management
  • Engineering (Preferred)
  • Related field of study
