The Storage Business Unit (SBU) defines, enables and markets solid-state drives (SSDs) and NAND components.  SBU focuses on the client and data center SSD markets, as well as the enterprise customers that purchase NAND components.

We are looking for a senior leader to be a part of this innovation and drive customer technical engagements in Storage. This leader will be a Senior Manager/Director of SSD Applications Engineering and lead a team of Applications Engineers focused on providing technical expertise and value to our customers in Enterprise, Cloud and Client Storage Solutions in the North America and EMEA regions. The Director of Applications Engineering is a senior management role with expectations of thought and technical leadership. This person will interact with customers, senior and executive management building excellent technical partnerships and strategy setting for the team delivering on a broad set of customer engagements. This position can be based in San Jose, Boise, Folsom, or Longmont.


  • Strong understanding of the Flash Storage Market - from traditional Enterprise Storage to emerging trends in Software Defined Storage, Cloud and Datacenter computing and storage
  • Strong technical background in SSD Development, Validation and FW Architecture; experience in leading SSD product development is a plus
  • Strong understanding of Storage interfaces including PCIe/NVM and SATA
  • Experience with advanced NAND Flash and other Non-volatile storage devices
  • Experience working with customers, evaluating customer requirements, and driving technical engagements
  • 10+ years working in semiconductor industry with 5+years people management experience
  • 5+ years in SSD development (firmware preferred)


  • Provide industry-leading technical partnership in early stages of product definition engagements with customers
  • Provide product-level expertise to BU Marketing team as well as customers to help design wins
  • Build relationships with key decision makers in the BU and Engineering Organizations. Enable a relationship of trust and partnership with customers though technical excellence and responsiveness
  • Advise senior and executive management in relation to strategic decisions for technical engagements or support
  • Provide technical leadership with a thorough knowledge of Micron products, customer applications
  • Grow the strength of the SSD AE organization through training and leadership by example
  • Provide technical expertise in resolution of issues observed by customers during product qualification process in collaboration with Engineering
  • Lead and optimize your team’s performance by ensuring their understanding and use of training tools, service strategies, customer metrics, and other business processes

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in materials science, electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent required, Master’s degree preferred
