Compliance Operations Supervisor

As a Compliance Operations Supervisor at Micron Technology, you will lead and oversee adherence to U.S. Customs import compliance for Micron and its joint ventures in the United States. In addition, you will supervise and improve Micron’s import operations, prepare and submit U.S. Customs reports, and manage communications with the U.S. Customs. You will also provide tactical support to the compliance operations team in the form of customs entry writing, document retention, work prioritization, and other daily tasks.

You will:

Lead and Oversee Adherence to United States (U.S.) Customs Import Compliance for Micron and Its Joint Ventures at Sites in the United States

  • Act as the primary contact to receive and respond to U.S. Customs’ requests (for example, Notice of Action)
  • Follow up on no file entries and late file entries
  • Prepare and submit Petitions for Relief to mitigate liquidated damage penalties
  • Prepare and submit Customs payments for penalties
  • Manage Micron’s U.S. Custom’s Reconciliation program
  • Settle HTS number for new products and maintain HTS database in collaboration with Trade Compliance team
  • Coordinate the traffic/logistics team effort to respond to requests from government agencies
  • Prioritize import shipments and communicate to import coordinators
  • Identify issues requiring assistance and provide appropriate guidance or action from Logistics management and/or the Trade Compliance team
  • Gather logistics entry information and back up documentation (for example, purchase orders, payment, receipts)
  • Submit documentation to U.S. Customs
  • Request support and information from accounting, finance, purchasing, and legal departments
  • Prepare written reports (for example, volumes of product imported)
  • Collaborate with U.S. Customs

Prepare and Submit U.S. Customs Import Reports and Requests for Micron at Sites in the U.S.

  • Prepare and analyze internal audit reports
  • Prepare and submit post entry corrections and quarterly pricing report to the U.S. Department of Labor
  • Resolve errors identified in reports

Provide Tactical Support to Compliance Operations Team

  • Enter US Customs entries as needed for daily volume support and vacation coverage
  • Participate in weekend coverage rotation
  • Provide Export support for AES troubleshooting, classification etc.

Collaborate with Other Traffic and Logistics Functions

  • Conduct an audit of import billing with freight accounting
  • Collaborate with transportation to ensure timely delivery of freight forwarder shipments
  • Communicate systems issues to Logistics Systems support

Provide Export compliance support

  • Submit, monitor, and run Automated Export System (AES) approvals for exports
  • Troubleshoot AES systems as vital

Provide Leadership and Expertise

  • Train team members on import laws, rules, and regulations
  • Develop new training materials and reference documents
  • Mentor and provide career development
  • Communicate job expectations and changes
  • Prioritize work and remove barriers
  • Conduct performance appraisals
  • Document and resolve performance issues
  • Provide recognition

Ensure a Safe, Compliant, and Ethical Work Environment

  • Maintain knowledge of and apply company safety, labor, and ethics policies
  • Communicate requirements to applicable team members and external partners
  • Lead all aspects of the execution of mandatory training for direct reports
  • Identify and resolve and / or report potential safety, security, and labor issues

You will have:

7 years experience in any of the following:

  • Import Compliance or Customs Brokerage


10 years experience in any of the following:

  • Import Compliance or Customs Brokerage


  • Desired: U.S. Customs Broker license
