Compliance Operations Manager

As the Compliance Operations Manager, you will oversee import and export operations for the international and domestic transportation of goods in the US/EMEA region. This includes overseeing the U.S. Customs Brokerage Subsidiary of Micron, overseeing Department of Transportation (DOT), International Air Transportation Associate (IATA), Custom’s Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Importer Self-Assessment (ISA), dangerous goods, and hazardous materials compliance. In addition, you will collaborate with groups affected by regulatory issues (for example Legal, International Tax, Environmental, Health, Safety and Security, Finance, and Quality Reliability Assurance). You will also be responsible for oversight of the Logistics Financial Group. In this position, you will also provide leadership and expertise and ensure a safe, compliant, and ethical work environment.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

Oversee United States Customs Brokerage Subsidiary 

  • Oversee the import of goods in the United States and EMEA to ensure that Micron complies with various countries’ laws and regulations 
  • Oversee import of goods into the United States to ensure that Micron’s entry declaration system complies with regulations and is cost effective 
  • Manage the payment of duties and taxes to the United States Customs and Border Protection
  • Allocate costs incurred by Micron to intercompany accounts
  • Forecast and manage the budget for Micron Customs Brokerage Services Inc. (a separate Micron subsidiary), including for example travel, training, and import costs 
  • Manage global reporting to government authorities and to internal customers (for example, the Tax and Finance groups) 
  • Develop strategies for improving and handling changes in import laws and regulations
  • Act as qualifying manager for Corporate Broker’s license and the United States National permit
  • Oversee the handling of AES systems support
  • Ensure Section 301 duties are being accurately tracked and reported to management while acting as a liaison across multiple departments to mitigate the financial impact
  • Assist on strategic initiatives including drawback filing, CTPAT Trade Compliance, and other programs

Oversee Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transportation Associate (IATA) Compliance Globally 

  • Oversee the management of hazardous materials and dangerous goods compliance
  • Collaborate with global sites, departments, and regulatory groups
  • Develop strategies for improving and handling changes in hazardous materials and dangerous goods laws and regulations

Manage the Logistics Financial Group 

Develop and maintain department wide metrics for US/EMEA Logistics Team

  • Work with US/EMEA department management to develop and maintain departmental metrics and KPIs
  • Utilize reporting software including Tableau, Cognos BI, custom SAP reporting, and other data reporting tools

Provide Leadership and Expertise

  • Train team members on import laws, rules, and regulations
  • Develop new training materials and reference documents
  • Coach and provide career development
  • Communicate job expectations and changes
  • Prioritize work and remove barriers
  • Conduct performance appraisals
  • Document and resolve performance issues
  • Provide recognition

Ensure a Safe, Compliant, and Ethical Work Environment

  • Maintain knowledge of and apply company safety, labor, and ethics policies
  • Communicate requirements to applicable team members and external stakeholders
  • Oversee execution of mandatory training for direct reports
  • Identify and resolve and / or report potential safety, security, and labor issues

Education

Required

 

Bachelors Degree

Experience

Required

 

7 years experience in any of the following:

·  Import Compliance or Customs Brokerage

 
 

Desired

 

10 years experience in any of the following:

Qualifications

   
 

·  REQUIRED: U.S. Customs Broker license
