As a Category Supplier Specialist you will be the primary category point of contact for supplier interactions during Development and New Product Introduction (NPI).

In this role, you will engage in supplier benchmarking analysis to formulate and lead and execute strategies to optimize cost, supply, and quality. Additional responsibilities include negotiating terms, conditions and pricing to demonstrate spend as well as lead and participate in department projects. Support order placement of development materials to support time sensitive product development goals.

In this job function, it is important that you develop lasting contacts and industry relationships to gain the best pricing intelligence and provide expertise on industry trends, technology direction, supplier technical and commercial roadmaps and lead time trends. Also understand the market position of each supplier for specific materials, assessing the financial stability of suppliers, and provide input and recommendations to Micron Management. This position also requires coordination of Micron strategic material teams with Micron procurement and technical teams from multiple sites which will include: Conference calls, goal setting, supplier evaluations, global supplier meetings, and technology roadmaps.

Role Responsibilities & Tasks:

You will act as primary point of contact for site Material suppliers

You will perform commercial supplier qualification activities to ensure the commercial development of strategic suppliers

You will maintain reciprocal relationships with supplier(s) while resolving supplier performance/capability issues

You ensure suppliers align with Micron's code-of-conduct programs and corporate social responsibility initiatives

Identify and Implement Supplier-Related Savings Levers

You will provide regular market intelligence and category price trends to relevant internal partners

 

Utilize data and should-cost models with site suppliers

You will participate in negotiations for contract changes

You will coordinate with Back End Procurement Category, Materials, Indirect Sourcing Managers (where relevant) or lead sourcing events/RFQ process into bundled negotiation

We partner with BEPRO category, materials and indirect teams and sites to build comprehensive view of supplier performance

Collect and relay site- specific priorities to suppliers

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience:

  • Business
  • Business Administration/Management
  • Engineering
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Related field of study

 

Experience:

New College Graduate or 1 to 2 years of work experience

Qualifications

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications

Strong social skills and the ability to be a persuasive advocate

Collaboration skills with peers in global category and partner with teams

You are able to work independently or with a cross functional team
