As a 3DXP PE Data Analytics Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for providing data collection, data analysis, and/or visualization solutions to promote a data-driven and benchmarking culture enabling the Product Engineering team to meet their strategic objectives for product development and delivery of the component and system roadmap.


You will interact and partner with different, engineering, information systems, and manufacturing teams supporting development and qualification of our 3DXP product line. You will interpret and communicate insights and analysis findings to engineering teams and management. You will be responsible for all aspects of architecting data solutions from conception to a final product. Your efforts will drive improvements to product development and micron product launches


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Implement and maintain data-driven decision-making processes
  • Promote a data driven culture.
  • Provide quality data solutions that build business value and enable the product engineering team to meet strategic objectives.
  • Define standard implementations and drive department level alignment.
  • Create metrics to gauge projects, data quality, and data solutions success.
  • Build and handle metric dashboards and scorecards.
  • Collaborate with others to identify, clarify, and collect internal product engineering requirements.
  • Identify and share Best Known Methods (BKMs) across departments and sites for project success.
  • Work with various volumes of data from multiple disparate sources.
  • Perform data analysis and mining to help generate solutions to business problems.
  • Ensure processes taken to maintain data integrity.
  • Understand available data and what data is relevant.
  • Lead and optimize data discovery and cleansing.
  • Collaborate with data architects (e.g. IS engineers, BI engineers, DBAs) to ensure that data needed is available.
  • Develop and automate ETL jobs for various volumes of data.
  • Identify new data sources in the network that will build new insights to business needs.
  • Maintain an understanding of company and department strategies and goals.
  • Understand the business objectives to develop and establish success criteria metrics.
  • Translate business problems into projects and solutions.
  • Understand business processes (data sources and meaning).
  • Explore important data through visualization and statistical methods.
  • Conduct and participate in analysis, design, statistical/model algorithm review, code review, and testing sessions.
  • Participate with end users in integration and user acceptance testing of data collection forms and analytics solutions.
  • Create quality solutions and continuously focus on quality improvement efforts by capturing and analyzing data from your solutions.
  • Enable data driven quality improvements to minimize support requirements.
  • Develop timely solutions to manufacturing network issues and provide appropriate levels of communication to partners and customers.
  • Write, code, test, and analyze data solutions and applications.
  • Train customers on using your data solutions and coach/mentor them on data driven decision making.
  • Demonstrate the functional and technical skills necessary to switch between various software, analysis and development technologies/frameworks, and merge them to provide the best solution.
  • Utilize best methodologies to enable high quality data solutions.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with peer groups and managers in other functional areas.
  • Provide periodic updates based on project criticality.
  • Offer and communicate strategic ideas and thinking to meeting corporate objectives.
  • Build and maintain external and internal relationships to broaden influence and increase learning opportunities.
  • Listen to customers and partners input and feedback, and act to improve benefit to Micron to meet company objectives.
  • Keep partners and team members informed on project status, progress, roadblocks, and opportunities.
  • Promote world-wide knowledge sharing and transfer.



Required - Masters Degree or higher

  • Computer Science
  • Applied Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Engineering



Required: 2 years’ semiconductor industry experience


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess strong analytical, mathematical, problem solving skills.
  • Capable of extracting data from any source.
  • Proficient in at least one of Java, Python, NumPy, Perl, C/C++, SQL, NoSQL (Mongo DB, Hadoop, Cassandra), R, JMP, Machine/Statistical Learning, Tableau, Y3, DataNavigator, Teradata SQL, etc.
  • Familiar with UNIX/Linux, subversion, agile development methods, JSON, XML.
  • Familiar with basic statistics (understand mean, sigma, p-value, Anova, regression, data mining concept, SPC, etc.) and willing to learn statistics extensively as a specialist in the future.
  • Passion for data analysis and delivering data solutions to help others make faster data driven decisions.
  • Possess the ability to work in numerous areas of a development life cycle independently or as part of a team.
  • Able to lead multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Proactive, and able to work with minimal direction.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills.
  • Active team participation, proven collaboration, and consensus building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a semiconductor manufacturing environment a plus.
