Component Mfg Test Technician (eFA)

Job Description

As a Component EFA Technician at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting on initial pass/fail data on failures generated during various manufacturing testing processes. You will perform basic electrical failure analysis of confirmed failures on the tester (ATE testers, uMate testers) and handlers and record test results in a database or established system. You will be expected to work with various Test Engineering groups to receive instructions and provide results, and will coordinate with TE and Manufacturing to acquire needed test equipment. In addition, you must demonstrate and understand the correlation between failing locations on different test platforms (ATE testers, Micromate and others), and demonstrate a general understanding of and the ability to use UNIX and Windows operating system.

eFA technicians are expected to have a solid understanding of the NAND and DRAM components for which they are working on. You must develop the necessary skills to use the analytical tools provided on the tester, develop a basic understanding of various failure modes and how different tests affect those failure modes.



Responsibilities and Tasks


Schedule Tester Tool Time with Production


·  Identify scheduling priorities (Production, Failure Analysis, other Technicians)


·  Determine tester requirements


·  Submit tester equipment change requests (configuration and tool time)


·  Assign tester back to Production when testing is complete


·  Test parts from various sources (manufacturing failures, RMA, reworks, Engineering failures, or monitor quals)


·  Gather information/background


Coordinate Batching of Failures for Parallel Processing


·  Review Verify Queue


·  Manage fail inventory and review Engineering and rework requests


·  Identify batchable attributes (test flow, temperature, etc.)


·  Apply identifying marks to lots


·  Batch/unbatch failures


Perform First Level Failure Analysis and Enter Results Data


·  Perform failure verification by reruning failures


·  Isolate failures from lots


·  Segregate and track passing lots on


·  Generate failure summary in a database


·  Determine fail type (electrical, functional, etc.) and fail step (pre-test vs. post)


·  Log failure mode, including leakage or IDD values, fail location via bit map, and fail registers


·  Run fail histories


·  Log failing pin information


·  Log fuse ID (for packaged components)


·  Perform Benchtop analysis


·  Perform MAM tracking


·  For pre-test failures, compile fail folder and create cover sheet


Analyze Failed Components from Qualification Testing


·  Manage Failure Analysis (FA) Information


·  Interpret historical tests results


·  Document failed conditions and test results


·  Categorize electrical failures


·  Communicate results


·  Identify and communicate new or unusual results (electrical signals)


Respond to eFA Equipment Issues


·  Understand test software and hardware configurations


·  Troubleshoot hardware issues


·  Identify and report software and hardware issues


·  Repair or coordinate repair of equipment


Provide Technical Support and Conduct Training


·  Provide area equipment overview


·  Teach operation of equipment


·  Conduct on-the-job training (OJT) for new hires and transfers


·  Provide data interpretation


·  Suggest failure root cause


·  Provide suggestions for further analysis


·  Introduce new users to basic NAND and DRAM functionality


·  Deliver hardware and software training


·  Provide NAND and DRAM eFA training


Perform Engineering Requests and Supplemental Tasks


·  Provide eFA for other groups as requested by eFA Engineer or reporting supervisor


·  Execute request and experiments


·  Identify hardware and software requirements


·  Summarize test results and provide feedback


·  Create repair converters






Other or equivalent experience

·  Diploma or Higher Electronics/Electrical or equivalent experience



·  Electronics


·  Related field of study







1 year experience in each of the following:

•Must be detail-oriented

•Ability to manage time and priorities

•Ability to work in a team environment or independently with little supervision

•Unix experience is an advantage





·  Strong troubleshooting skill


·  Good organizational skills and sharp attention to tail


·  Good written and oral communication skills


·  Efficient computer skills


·  Familiarity with Unix or uMate preferred


·  Ability to work independently or in a group environment


·  Basic understanding of electrical devices and tools
