Cost Manager - Compute & Networking

As a Cost Manager @ Micron Technology, Inc. in the Compute and Networking Business Unit (CNBU), you will be chartered with managing cost for CNBU product portfolio. You will build and lead a cross-functional team of key representatives from Global Operations, Finance, Engineering, and BU to develop cost targets and track execution to cost targets. You will be responsible for creating a business process around cost management and manage key cost reduction programs. You will benchmark Micron product cost against competition and will drive key product cost targets into product definition. You will track both media costs and non-media BOM costs to ensure we achieve the highest return on our investments.

 

The ideal candidate will drive the team towards defining clear business processes, ensuring effective cost data visualization, and tracking ‘design for cost’ metrics. This role requires the ability to apply critical thinking working cross-functionally to drive the best possible outcome.

 

Your Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with key team members to develop and establish the multi-year product cost targets and roadmap for achieving best-in-class cost targets.
  • You will work closely with Finance and Operations to ensure you have a good understanding of the various components of cost for CNBU products.
  • Work closely with procurement and engineering to ensure that we achieve leadership in costs for non-memory BOM costs
  • Own and lead cross-functional subject matter experts from across the globe to manage costs from definition to execution to end of life for any given CNBU product including the timely preparation of cost targets and tracking metrics for various stage gates and key product decisions.
  • You will key inputs that help drive product pricing strategies for various products in the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define a business process for cost management within CNBU
  • Monitor and work towards a comprehensive understanding of competitor products and their cost breakdown to identify areas for Micron to improve our cost position. Use the learnings to help define leadership cost targets to achieve the highest gross profits for CNBU products.
  • Provide quarterly readout of Best in class cost reviews to executives.
  • Develop metrics for benchmarking project performance. Identify and share BKMs for program and project success
  • Participate in the product management and cost initiative community by contributing to corporate process improvement and act as secondary/back-up product manager for assigned products

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field with experience in semiconductor or a computing systems company
  • A highly motivated person with strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple sites
