Process Control System Engineer

As a Process Control System Engineer at MXA, you will responsible for, but not limited to, developing/improving/maintaining Fault Detection and Classification strategies at our manufacturing facilities, understanding system dependencies, project planning, engaging in cost reduction efforts. You will work with Manufacturing, Engineering, Corporate QMS, PQA and Central Teams to develop, align and deploy a consistent back-end wide SPC program. You will participate in global efforts to standardize and optimize the effectiveness of process controls and develop strategies for continuous improvement.



Maintain Fault Detection and Classification

  • Identify Fault Detection and Classification Dependencies;
  • Fault Detection and Classification for specific manufacturing area;
  • Implement, comply, maintain and improve established standards;
  • Test and implement system changes and improvements;
  • Manage the implementation of controlled modifications using Change Management methodologies;
  • Deployment and on-going maintenance of FDC strategies (data collection, summarized indicators, limits, OCAPS, etc.) to minimize risks of excursion and scrap;
  • Troubleshoot strategy/tool/system related issues, including proper documentation, escalation, and follow-up to completion;
  • Monitor strategy performance and effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement;

Understand and follow worldwide FDC best known methods (BKM), business rules and standards, and change management procedures:

  • Align, share, and review FDC strategy best practices and excursion/scrap prevention with world-wide counterparts;
  • Active participation/presentation in regularly meetings and general support to explore and analyze and promote the use of FDC data;
  • Understand and Maintain System Dependencies;
  • Facilitate Fault Detection and Classification;
  • Coordinate Fault Detection and Classification tasks utilizing various programs, including Manufacturing Execution Systems, Process Control Systems, Statistical Process Control, Advanced Process Control, Fault Detection and Classification, Engineering Change Notice, and Global Conversion Process;

Project Planning 

  • Act as a liaison between information systems, production area management, and engineering management in matters concerning Fault Detection and Classification;
  • Anticipate or diagnose automation issues across multiple equipment types within a given manufacturing area;
  • Participated in projects that have impact on a site-wide and/or global scale;

SPC Improvement/Enhancement

  • Accountable for site compliance to Global SPC Business Processes and procedures.
  • Represent the site in SPC Business Alignment Teams and facilitate site/area linked teams.
  • Drive site focus on improving performance variation and reducing deviations that impact product quality
  • Ensure spec limit methodology and control requirements are understood and complied with
  • Serve as a statistical consultant to the Back End areas.
  • Collaborate with Process & Equipment Engineers to improve process capability through Statistical Process Control, Advanced Process Control (APC) and Design of Experiment (DOE)
  • Develop statistical reports, methodologies and tools to detect process drifts and trigger Process & Equipment Engineers to reduce process deviation
  • Perform statistical data analysis on process parameters to determine effective ways to improve process capability
  • Ensure inputs to the SPC process, including run-to-run and automated process control, are adequate for effective monitoring of the process and the tools.
  • Assist in planning and analysis of MSA studies and DOE
  • Promote and drive projects and business processes that will reduce overall process and equipment variation.
  • Support strategic vision and quality program/project management Initiatives.

Successful candidates for this position will have:
- Excellent Knowledge of Engineering Statistics, Methodology, MES;

- Relevant working experience in a manufacturing environment using statistical applications is a plus.

- Knowledge of automated statistical analysis/reports: scripting analysis (JMP, Minitab), simulations, data manipulation and query, creation and maintenance of automated reports (extraction, manipulation, analysis, graphics, presentation, interactive drill-down, monitor usage, scheduling).

- Strong data analysis and data interpretation skills.

- Strong communication skills, ability to assemble, analyze, and evaluate data and provide well-reasoned recommendations and decisions to support the business stakeholders

- An in-depth understanding of process flows, controls and interactions, and how process changes and defect mechanisms can affect yield, performance, and reliability.
- Experience coordinating engineering efforts across many different project groups.
- The ability to interpret and effectively resolve complex, technical or ambiguous requests and problems.  

- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of people.


- Bachelor’s degree in Science and Engineering;
