MXA Lead Engineer, Assembly Quality


Job Description:


As a Lead Engineer for Assembly Quality at Micron Technology, Inc. you will be responsible for all quality aspects of assembly subcontractor’s management.  Subcontractors provide outsourcing services to Micron that include component assembly and packaging.  This job has a broad range of duties and a large variety of tasks to be managed and plays a key role in achieving Micron strategic objectives. You will work closely with internal/external business partners and key stakeholders to develop strategies for continuous improvement in product quality and process controls and provide support for customer related issues and activities. You will be required to lead various projects, activities at identifying, mitigating and managing risk at this site. Some travel may be required.



Responsibilities and Tasks:


  • Communicate and interface directly with Micron subcontractors regarding engineering, quality and reliability topics.
  • Develop, manage, and/or communicate quality line of site metrics and goals.
  • Conduct weekly review of Subcon manufacturing line quality performance and follow through with recovery and corrective actions in case of any misses to targets.
  • Drive Subcon focus on improving performance variation and reducing deviations that impact product quality.
  • Assign and follow through on CAPA for line incidents that cause non-conformance to Micron’s WIP and/or impact delivery.
  • Drive the Subcon for progress on continuous improvement projects (CIP) and promote business processes that will reduce overall process and equipment variation.
  • Lead periodic on-site quality audits.
  • Work with Subcon to host customer audits and provide support for customer related activities (i.e. audits, visits, presentations, reports, requests etc.).
  • Provide inputs for monthly/quarterly quality reviews and participating in these reviews.
  • Drive corrective actions and closure for field returns (RMA’s)
  • Support Micron’s strategic vision and quality program/project management initiatives.
  • Oversee Change Control and MRB process at Subcon.
  • Deploy and manage controlled documentation given to Subcon in reference to Micron’s Quality Requirements
  • Participate in Subcon’s Package Design & Technology roadmap.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of process quality controls and systems to ensure timely & effective detection and management of deviations.  Drive Subcon to deploy best in class solutions (i.e. Change Control, FMEA/CP, MRB, Problem Solving, FDC, SPC, Metro/RDA, Big Data)
  • Set up and make roadmap for assembly business and team develop strategy.








  • Bachelor of Science in Materials Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years working in semiconductor component assembly with experience in Quality, Process or Product engineering
  • An in-depth understanding of process flows, controls and interactions, and how process changes and defect mechanisms can affect yield, performance, and reliability.
  • Strong data analysis and data interpretation skills.
  • Good multi-tasking and effective problem solving skills.
  • A good understanding of FMEA, control plan and SPC related quality tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects and working with a cross functional team.
  • The ability to interpret and effectively resolve complex, technical or ambiguous requests and problems.
