Job Description

As a Backend Manufacturing Central Team Quality Management Engineering Systems Manager at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be a member of the Worldwide Quality team responsible for reducing variation and deviations for all Micron BE sites.

In this position, you will work with the site and Corporate QMS groups, SPC, FMEA, Material Validation, Customer Requests and Customer Requirements, Audit certification readiness and support, and Technology transfer business processes working with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other areas to develop a strategy for improving quality across our product portfolio.

This strategy will include developing and improving the systems needed to meet customer quality requirements, metrics to highlight performance and gaps, and an audit process to ensure success.

As the manager, you will be expected to develop your staff to establish goals, provide coaching and training, and conduct performance appraisals. You will also identify staffing needs, recruit, interview, and make hiring decisions for your group.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

Support Strategic Vision and Quality Program/Project Management Initiatives

  • Contribute to building a Worldwide Quality team that will drive to zero deviations from customer product requirements.
  • Drive alignment and collaboration guidance from Quality Organizations in Manufacturing, Corporate Quality and, APTD
  • Develop, manage, and/or communicate quality line of site metrics and goals.
  • Drive projects and business process that will reduce overall process and equipment variation.
  • Assist in providing a “Shift Left mentality and Quality Mindset” for the Manufacturing Central Team and Micron organization
  • Drive accountability through clear communication, feedback, effective project management and appropriate usage of metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and enablement of projects, workshops, and training that support and enable certification requirements
  • Fan out standards from Global Quality and develop training for System Level Business Process Owners while Identifying and sharing BKM’s across departments and sites for QMS success.
  • Work with the BE Sites and other functional areas on developing strategic business processes with clear and agreed upon business rules for each assignment. Utilize tools, such as K-T Project Management the MCT PMO and approved project management tools, to plan, scope, and communicate project objectives and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of internal quality tools, quality concepts, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and Micron’s Quality Manual, FMEA, SPC, CSR, ERM Risk and Opportunity Analysis, Fusion and related tools and business processes required for the job.
  • Develop and maintain effective and fast Early Detection Engineering methodology and business process with BE manufacturing Site Quality.
  • Ensure training is provided as new quality business processes are developed and assist in development of training materials
  • Act as a local coordinator or provider of training, relating to quality management business processes, and systems if needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a Quality Management System for assigned areas.
  • Assist in the development of QMS system, tools, and processes (FMEA based risk mitigation, GCP conversion, enterprise excursion processes, and internal, customer, and registrar audit and follow-up processes)

Provide Tactical Project Leadership

  • Work with the BE Sites, PMO office, and Manufacturing Central Team to define, develop, and maintain systems that allow for program and project success.
  • Clearly outline PPA goals for each employee or department and how they impact or support MLT or Corporate initiatives.
  • Explain the global quality resources in order to recruit top caliber and appropriate members for each project.
  • Clear roadblocks for project managers and members to enable achievement of project objectives.
  • Work with the BE sites and other functional areas on developing strategic business processes with clear and agreed upon business rules for each assignment. Utilize tools, such as K-T Project Management or the MCT PMO approved project management tools, to plan, scope and communicate project objectives and deliverables.
  • Review and assist with communication of the project status and requirements for completion to appropriate Micron team members.
  • Maintain a strong and open relationship with peer group and appropriate managers in other functional areas.
  • Communicate and respond to issues in a timely manner
  • Effectively present to both small and large groups on project updates and new initiative proposals
  • Work with BE sites to ensure local training needs are met.
  • Act as a local coordinator or provider of training, relating to quality management business processes, and systems if needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a Quality Management System for assigned sites, departments, or areas.

Manage and Develop Team through Performance Management

  • Provide a work environment that empowers employees to creatively improve their work environment, instills a sense of ownership in Micron, and supports a team effort.
  • Complete written evaluations for each direct report once per year that outlines his/her strengths and identifies those areas needing improvement as well as a plan for improving skills.
  • Work with employees on establishing aggressive but achievable goals and assist in maintaining a balance between task-related goals versus results driven goals.
  • Work with each direct report regularly to establish a functional performance plan. Outlining specific goals and metrics.
  • Create and maintain job profiles for each member in your group to help recruit top caliber members for the group.
  • Drive accountability through clear communication, informal feedback, effective project management, and appropriate usage of metrics.
  • Continue education and development of leadership and performance skills.
  • Define and develop the training/educational program to build team members with required work knowledge as well as for next level.

 

Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Quality or Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years work experience in the relevant work field. Minimum 2 years’ experience as M1/M2
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex tasks globally
  • Through knowledge of QMS(Quality Management System), FMEA, SPC, Site transfer and EDE(Early Detection Engineering)
  • Proven ability to set, measure and achieve short term, mid term and long term goals
  • Excellent communication skill and presentation skill, both verbal and written
  • Strong data analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skill set
  • Requires international / domestic travels
