As a MSB Planning Director, you will be responsible for delivering the best planning solution to maximize company profits by collaborating with stakeholders in supply chain, facilities, IS and organizations within the site. You will lead the planning, OI and IE departments by developing metrics with deliverables, assigning responsibilities to your team that will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the site. You will drive functional planning strategies that maximize output, yield, and reduces cost and cycle time to meet Micron’s strategic objectives. You will lead the organization and develop organizational capability of the planning community by establishing good planning systems, train and develop the planning team to be skilled in industrial engineering and planning. As a people leader, you will need to identify talent, coach and mentor these talents to contribute and make a difference to Micron. You will recognize and reward your team as you assign them challenging goals and maximize their capability. You will deliver competitive results by removing barriers, coaching and mentoring team members. Other responsibilities include building networks to deliver strategic solutions, and ensuring a safe, compliant, and ethical work environment.

 

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Identify, manage and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department.
  • Drive each process area for continuous improvement in: Tool utilization; Cycle time; WIP management; Excursion/scrap prevention.
  • Promote and model the use of systematic thinking processes.
  • Manage new tool purchases, installations, and qualifications with planning and process engineering to meet the business plan.
  • Manage new process/product qualification and integration with process engineering and product integration to meet the business plan.
  • Ensure that the tactical capacity is in place to be able to execute to the 24-36 wk business plan (meet the supply chain requirements).
  • Optimize the manufacturing efficiency and throughput around the business plan.
  • Manage inventory daily both at starts and manufacturing line.
  • Use and refine a process to implement the business plan.
  • Create an environment of motivation to foster team member’s engagement to the fullest of their potential. Promote and exemplify a leader-led development culture within the department.
  • Advocate a performance management culture, monitoring the use of the performance management system within the department.
  • Identify, develop, and implement organizational initiatives that drive benchmark culture.
  • Provide ideas and recommendations to site leadership on department initiatives.
  • Know the competition; be aware of how strategies and tactics work in the market place.
  • Create competitive and innovative strategies and plans.
  • Partner with supply chain and BUs to assure most profitable business plan.
  • Effectively plans for required capacity and product mix adjustments. Ensure manpower is properly assigned and directed to meet required timelines.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Masters in Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Currently in a director position with experience in Industrial Engineering, Operations Improvement and Planning.
  • Good understanding of Backend processes and Manufacturing Science (scheduling, inventory management, capacity planning, lean manufacturing, TPM, etc)
  • Good leadership skill in mentoring, building teams, managing the performance of teams and people development
  • Excellent analytical and good decision making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration with other groups, internally and externally
  • Proven ability to solve problems across multi-functional groups within and outside the department
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritize goals and objectives
  • Proven ability to multi-task and lead team to meet challenging deadlines and goals
  • Demonstrated ability to measure self and team for efficiency and effectiveness
