Back End Central Engineering Materials Engineer Passive Component Key Material Group Leader Job Responsibilities

 

As an Backend Central Engineering (BECE) Material Engineer, you will be responsible for executing and collaborating to provide and improve manufacturing processes through consistent materials quality, Key Materials Group (KMG) business processes, and leveraging world-wide resources to deliver industry benchmark and consistent materials across manufacturing sites.

 

You will need to interface with procurement, supplier quality engineering, global quality, technology development, and manufacturing engineering across the network to review and address materials issues and concerns, from internal sites and external customers.

 

You will collaborate with Technology Development (TD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) to identify new materials/suppliers for product Bill of Material (BOM).

 

You will develop methods and metrics in order to improve material quality performance on a global scale.

 

You will collaborate with Global Quality on Supplier Quality Notification (SQN) process, SCM (Supplier Change Management) process and on-site supplier audits as needed, and assist procurement in performing supplier performance reviews.

 

You will need to form link teams or stakeholders forum as require to ensure effective collaboration with manufacturing sites, quality engineering, other BCT departments and external suppliers to accomplish your objectives.

 

You will lead the cross function KMG team for passives components used on module and SSD systems. Passive components include resistors, resistor networks, MLCC, diodes, crystals, transistors, inductors, polymer tantalum capacitors, aluminum electrolytic capacitors, and super capacitors.

 

You will be responsible to manage projects across multiple departments and function.

 

Key Material Group Leader Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the key material group (KMG) for the commodity assigned
  • Determine key projects for the team
  • Meet regularly with the KMG team and assign action items to drive key projects for the team
  • Define Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics
  • Coordinate and analyze CTQ Validation
  • Engage w/ technology development on requirements for new technology (roadmap alignment)
  • MSSR
  • KMG KPI maintenance
  • Establish and Maintain material specifications
  • Maintain the MOD/SSD Approved Materials List (AML)
  • Coordinate material through the mfg line for qualification
  • Complete material changes through the Change Control Board (CCB) process
  • Sets expectations/requirements for IQC and drives BE alignment
  • Ensure alignment to quality business processes across the BE sites
  • Help mfg resolve Technical Material issues where design rules and mfg capabilities need more definition
  • Supplier CIP Team member
  • Initial Material Containment
  • Coordinating the raw material screening activities
  • Coordinates GRR study (between suppliers/IQC)
  • Backup support multiple commodities (Enclosure/Comp/PCBs/Substrate) when needed
  • Component top mark management
  • MRB/iMRB participant for assigned commodity and/or site
  • QBR/SBR/ASE/MBR participant
  • Work with design, manufacturing and the supplier to develop new technology, processes, and controls

 

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Material Engineering or related technical field and 5 years’ experience with strong knowledge and interest in Materials Engineering related fields.
  • Experience with DOE/FMEA/8D/SPC/Repair/PM (preventive) techniques
  • Ability to lead and participate in cross-area teams, with proven ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
