Job Description


As a Financial Planning Analyst at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for providing area support including cost center usage and structure. You will be responsible for using and coordinating multiple sources of data to provide stakeholders, including joint venture partnerships, with actual and forecasting results. You will also be responsible for analyzing data for plans and trends, as well as discrepancies and variances. You will be responsible for performing customer specific requests for ad hoc reporting. You will also be presenting your analysis to the various stakeholders through face to face meetings and phone conferences. Your duties will also include allocating data to internal and external stakeholders, including corporate budget and financial statements.


Responsibilities and Tasks

Collect and Organize Required Metric Data

  • Navigate information system applications (SAP, COGNOS, LPI, etc.) to collect actual and forecast data
  • Combine and coordinate multiple sources of data from stakeholders
  • Load data into financial systems
  • Validate source data


Analyze Financial Data

  • Validate data for contractual compliance and legitimacy; follow-up for discrepancies
  • Build reports to summarize plan and trend variances
  • Document and distribute explanations for plan and trend variances to management and other stakeholders
  • Perform ad hoc analysis based on customer requests


Design, Develop, and Maintain Forecast Models

  • Identify need, scope, and system resources
  • Design and develop system solutions
  • Implement and communicate model functionality and output
  • Validate solutions through stakeholder feedback; modify accordingly
  • Provide training to stakeholders as needed
  • Perform continuous process improvements


Present Data Summaries and Provide Consultation

  • Present financial data according to customer requirements
  • Highlight areas of concern and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Identify and explain assumptions and variances to plan
  • Coordinate summary presentation logistics
  • Maintain knowledge of internal, contractual, and regulatory requirements (Anti-trust, Proprietary Information policies, SOX, GAAP, Corporate Retention policy, etc.)
  • Mentor team members on systems, processes, and policies
  • Create and coordinate global financial processes and monitor for alignment
  • Build and maintain effective customer relationships


Provide Financial Area Support

  • Develop, implement, and maintain cost accounting systems
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Maintain and reconcile ledger accounts
  • Ensure established policies and procedures are followed and make modifications as needed
  • Manage area cost center usage and structure



Bachelor Degree

  • Finance or Accounting
  • Business/ Economics or any other related field




  • +1-3 years in Manufacturing industry/Financial analysis
