Job Description

As a Manufacturing Quality Engineering SPC Manager, you will lead a team, and be responsible for SPC systems and Business Process management, Process control solutions integration in a Backend. In particular, you will lead a team, work with Backend Manufacturing Central Team (MCT) Engineering, Backend Site Quality teams and Global partners to provide direction and assistance with SPC and related Process Control functions.  Your team will help to coordinate and implement control systems across multiple international facilities with the aim at reducing overall product variation which will result in higher process margins, increased yield and reliability with lower costs. Other responsibilities include enablement of network aligned SIPOC data availability in Global Data warehouse, provide ad-hoc support for data analytics and script support for data extraction capability from tools to database. These responsibilities enable quality deliverables and cadence to be a global leader in memory and storage solutions.


Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Leadership and Innovation for Quality Solutions:

  • Provide direction and facilitate the practical application of SPC within Backend Manufacturing environment, covering all aspects including Business Process, interaction with Quality Functions.
  • Setting tactical and strategic vision for the team to bring innovation into the PCS technologies and how they are applied to Backend Network.
  • Build and maintain a team to support the eventual setup of network aligned SIPOC data, making such data available in GDW or equivalent database, provide support for data analytics, and data extraction capability for Defense line items of high priority.
  • Personnel and performance management and mentoring to ensure team members know where they are meeting expectations and goals as well as where they can improve development or performance
  • Provide a work environment that empowers employees to creatively improve their work environment, instills a sense of ownership in Micron, and supports a team effort
  • Ensure all required safety training is complete and all work is conducted in a safe manner
  • Create the environment to foster and instill Benchmark Culture consistent with Micron Behaviors
  • Provide knowledge, resources & training (tools, systems, human resources, etc.) in order to enable our team members to be successful in meeting the technical aspects of their job. Ensure challenges/barriers to drive goals are always clearly identified, prioritized, and have solid action plans to address them
  • External communication to customer and peer groups to ensure we are keeping them apprised of activity, leveraging each other’s resources, and minimizing duplication of effort
  • Manage and coordinate resources, metrics, and systems to facilitate the achievement of quality goals


Job Qualifications:

  • Have excellent supervisory and organizational skills with the ability to provide direction for the SPC, Fault Detection and related PCS functions. Global team engagement and leadership experience is a plus point.
  • You must be known as a results-oriented individual who obtains results through individual contributions and coordinating successful teams; be an individual who is dedicated to understanding and meeting customer needs and team goals; and be known as an individual with high standards of personal integrity

  • Advanced understanding of SPC principles 
  • Advanced understanding of PCS solutions including Fault Detection
  • Advanced understanding of database, deep learning
  • Proven ability to drive complex projects to completion 
  • Demonstrated ability to partner successfully with other groups and build strong peer relationships




  • Minimum B.S. degree in Statistics, Mathematics, and/or Engineering with an emphasis in Applied Statistics




  • Minimum 3 years of experience in semiconductor industry applying a variety of statistical methods, including process control and metrology
  • Experience with Tableau, R, JMP, and/or other statistical software including scripting capability for automating analysis
  • Experience in the areas: statistical modeling, feature extraction and analysis, supervised/unsupervised/semi-supervised learning.
  • Ability to visualize and design database, fluent with various query languages and ability to apply data cleansing, outlier identification, and missing data techniques.
  • Strong software development skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong plus point if the desirable skillsets are available:
    • Machine learning and other advanced analytical methods
    • Fluency in Python and/or R
    • Hadoop (Hive, Spark, HBase)
    • Teradata and/or another SQL databases
    • Tensorflow, and/or other statistical software including scripting capability for automating analyses
    • Experience working with time series data, images, semi-supervised learning, and data with frequently changing distributions is a plus.
