Job Description

As an Manufacturing Central Team Process Integration Engineering (PIE) Director at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for manufacturing yield and product quality improvement program in the networks to facilitate each site to meet business plans with best known method (BKM) sharing among sites. It includes key business process continuous improvement such as process conversion and key WW project management, yield PAC management, facilitating benchmarking activities to ensure sites understand gaps and challenges to improve their performance, identifying a business process and an opportunity to collaborate with business partners or other manufacturing groups to increase learning rate for sites. Metric management is also one of the key activities to ensure visibility and priorities are understood among business partners.


Responsibilities and Tasks


Performance Management

  • Champion Micron Behaviors and MCT competencies.
  • Ensure clear direction, performance goals, job profiles and job expectations are established for all Team Members.
  • Provide a work environment that empowers employees to creatively improve their work environment, instills a sense of ownership in Micron, and supports a team effort.
  • Partner with Team Members on establishing aggressive but achievable goals. Maintain a balance between task-related goals versus results-driven goals.
  • Align short-term and long-term goals within Process Integration Engineering operations to company Strategic Objectives and Operations Big Rocks.
  • Recruit top-caliber members for the team.
  • Drive accountability through clear communication, informal feedback, effective project management, and appropriate usage of metrics.
  • Ensure promotion and recognition programs are aligned to recognize and incentivize high-performing Team Members.
  • Make certain low-performing Team Members are systematically identified and managed.


Strategic Leadership

  • Work with FAB and BE Mfg to drive for best-in-class (BIC) TTMCY
  • Provide “Vision” and “Mission” for Process Integration Engineering, Yield Engineering operations and SSD/Mod Engineering. Ensure this vision aligns with needs of the business both internal and external to operations.
  • Work with key business partners to develop strategic Process Integration tools, systems, methodologies, capabilities and roadmaps. Ensure such support and roadmaps meet business expectations to enable achievement of strategic objectives and Micron’s business plan.
  • Coordinate alignment of Front end site Process Integration teams to close gaps in critical yield deviations from forecast.
  • Work jointly with MFG sites on adjustments of Assembly and Test Yield forecasts and insure such forecasting is well understood by MFG sites, product engineering, Supply chain and other key business partners.
  • Develop and track metrics regarding Fab Process Integration, Yield performance, tier quality and conversion performance. Ensure plans are in place to drive key factory metrics to industry-leading performance.
  • Create an environment with your group that encourages innovation and technical leadership.
  • Work with business partners to ensure best talent is mobilized to business-critical deliverables.
  • Progress skills roadmap from Micron in the fields of project management, business process development and management, and LEAN/Six sigma.


Tactical Leadership

  • Conduct ongoing metrics reviews of critical group deliverables to business. Ensure work reviews are conducted on all programs, projects and critical activities to ensure achievement of committed performance. Establish structure for subordinate manager to conduct such reviews within their teams. Ensure such reviews are aligned and effective.
  • Provide direct leadership on most critical group deliverables and escalated performance items to ensure barriers are removed and correct resources are applied. Ensure timely and transparent communication with business partners if performance issues will risk business objectives.
  • Develop group leadership to ensure all Team Members receive quality leadership, performance management and assistance from their management team to achieve or exceed expectations.
  • Provide monthly one-on-one sessions to review progress to the Work Plan and adjust training and performance goals.
  • Facilitate the WW Process Integration organization regular “INTERLOCK” meetings with Key business partners. Ensure resources are assigned to drive actions defined from meetings.
  • Facilitate the MCT Process Integration organization as a “technical conduit” between Process Integration and key business partners who can support the Yield and tier quality roadmap.
  • Execute, maintain, and continuously improve operations project management and business process in alignment in accordance with QMS standards.
  • Coordinate collaboration of WW Process Integration and Product Engineering organization to address concerns on MFG execution. Leverage this relationship to improve speed of learning and conversion execution.
  • Effectively manage team’s internal and worldwide meeting structure. Ensure meetings are efficient, effective and targeted to achieve required outcomes.
  • Coordinate escalation issues between MFG sites as required to drive operations objectives.


Manage PAC Programs

  • Support and manage projects through the project lifecycle
  • Assist project managers and business analysts to analyze business case and update program roadmap
  • Travel as needed to key stakeholders, project managers and worldwide PAC members to ensure necessary communication
  • Publish consolidated reports to stakeholders and PAC members
  • Conduct PAC Summit as needed to review the whole program and discuss strategy with PAC members and appropriate managers
  • Ensure strategic alignment of peer group activities, projects, metrics to PAC strategies


Facilitate and Manage WW PAC Meeting and Activities

  • Facilitate regular PAC meetings and communicate with PAC members to stimulate discussion among members. Use appropriate tools to make business decisions
  • Actively review PAC program with PAC members
  • Invite appropriate stakeholders to stimulate discussion when business needs exist. Perform a leadership role to develop and maintain mission and visions of PAC activities. Travel as needed.



  • Provide regular and structured communications to your team, including progress toward strategic objectives, Operations goals, priority projects, and company status. Ensure Team Members are well-engaged and motivated to achieve group and company objectives. Ensure subordinate managers communicate consistently and in alignment with your regular communications.
  • Ensure structured communications with Team Members provide proper motivation and optimism toward achieving Process Integration Engineering vision and mission.
  • Provide a work environment that empowers employees to creatively improve their work environment, instills a sense of ownership in Process Integration engineering, and supports a team effort.
  • Ensure leaders, at all levels, engage in productive two-way communications with Team Members.
  • Provide regular Process Integration engineering updates to key business partners. Updates should show progress against timelines and metrics to add to vision and direction.
  • Develop external relationships to achieve new ideas and procedures to keep pace with industry standards and methods.
  • Manage communication on critical projects and activities through change management methodology. Be prepared to share status of any underperforming project or activity, along with actions required to resolve performance problems.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity - Show respect for different cultures and languages; learn to pronounce names correctly; speak English slowly and clearly when interacting with non-native English speakers; invite feedback to ensure others understand.


Training and Career Development

  • Ensure the group’s training roadmap is maintained. Focus on developing leading-edge skills and preventing isolated skill sets that risk business continuity.
  • Ensure all leaders have required leadership training and fully understand manager expectations for the position.
  • Ensure leaders set specific training plans, performance goals and development activities for their Team Members.
  • Hold quarterly career development discussions with direct report and ensure leaders do the same for Team Members.
  • Ensure leaders are involved in and supporting the use of training plans.
  • Leverage Micron’s training tools and programs for standardization and efficiency.
  • Ensure training is provided to partners, internal and external, for business processes.
  • Establish and maintain GJS skill sets for each position in your group.
  • Develop potential successors within your group and coach/mentor to develop skills.



  • Provide leadership for process safety management systems development and sustainment. Target to achieve zero major event occurrences across the Micron manufacturing network.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment and materials safety concerns.
  • Ensure all sites understand any safety concern for equipment installation and have access to equipment and materials safety information.
  • Encourage and create a culture of safety.
  • Take a proactive approach to safety, and utilize corporate and site safety resources for escalation issues as appropriate.
  • Champion Micron’s “Good Catch” program with the entire team. Reward and recognize contributions to a safe work environment.
