Job Description

You will be responsible for supporting the vision and management of a Procurement Functional Area to enable superior service delivery, a high performing team and the development of current and future Micron leaders. Support building a category management strategy and coordinate execution of the same at all FE sites committing to functional performance goals and optimizing departmental performance by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. 

 

You will work closely with the Category leaders to establish and monitor department performance metrics and oversee functional area metrics to identify and implement continual improvement opportunities. You will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver strategic solutions and with the Category Director to coordinate approach to global and site specific suppliers. You will maintain close interaction with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure category-related needs are addressed while fostering a customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement.

 

Other responsibilities include ensuring department compliance to company policies and regulations, as well as departmental procedures. You will also be responsible for conveying corporate business initiatives, aligning team and individual goals to business objectives, and driving overall high performance within your team and the department.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

                      

Manage Functional Area Service Delivery

 

  • Be accountable for participating in goal setting and delivering overall category savings, compliance, Business continuity and supplier management targets
  • Communicate and align strategy with global and site category teams
  • Lead multiple site teams
  • Participate and support in building comprehensive category management strategy for all categories under control
  • Maintain high level of interaction and input from Global Category Managers and Site Category teams to foster informed, coordinated strategy
  • Coordinate category specific projects at sites and track implementation and results
  • Coordinate and communicate departmental policies and procedures
  • Be accountable for internal budgets and promote continuous cost reduction and quality improvement
  • Develop, communicate, and monitor department performance metrics

 

Lead and Manage regional / site Category Teams 

 

  • Support building of the right procurement team (recruitment, training, staffing, and retention)
  • Present strategic plan for the assigned categories and report status
  • Build consensus on assigned category strategic plan and refine (if required)
  • Provide input on procurement initiatives
  • Assist Category Director in building integrated strategic plan

                               

Support building Functional Strategies, Processes, and Policy

 

  • Collaborate with global Category Managers and Site/Regional Supplier Managers to coordinate approach to cross-category vendors
  • Participate with global Category Managers to Set and maintain multi-year strategy roadmaps based on business needs and supplier landscape
  • Develop and monitor site team performance to plan
  • Mentor current and future leaders
  • Collaborate with peers to construct global solutions to department and category issues
  • Ensure conflict resolution and assist with identifying escalation paths
  • Align internal strategies and communicate line of sight to corporate strategic objectives
  • Communicate the corporate business environment, initiatives and department direction

                              

Collaborate with Stakeholders to Deliver Strategic Solutions

 

  • Ensure customer category requirements met
  • Collaborate to create and drive customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing the specific category Procurement
  • Maintain close interaction with business partners to ensure category-related needs addressed
  • Identify and understand department service requirements
  • Guide functional services with peer group and internal global partners
  • Manage conflict and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Initiate and sustain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate strategic sourcing goals, category management plans, initiatives and targets to customers
  • Provide advice to senior and executive management on strategic decisions
  • Maintain relationships with supplier senior executives
  • Coordinate with global category managers to implement processes to monitor stakeholder satisfaction with key suppliers

Education

Required

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Business Administration/Management
  • Engineering
  • Related field of study

 

Desired

Certificate

  • APICS, PMI
  • CPM, CPSM
  • Related field of study

 

Master’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Business Administration/Management
  • Engineering
  • Related field of study

 

 Experience

 Required

8 years experience in any of the following:

  • Purchasing/Procurement
  • Supply Chain

      

Qualifications

  • Experience as change agent that seeks out and advocates new and innovative solutions to meet the business needs
  • Knowledge and application of Should-Cost modeling, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concepts and strategic sourcing process would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with technologies related to assigned categories
  • Exceptional negotiation experience
  • CPM or CPSM Certification, or other Procurement certification preferred
  • Collaboration skills with peers in global category and stakeholder teams
  • High level of business experience and training preferred 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to be a persuasive advocate
  • Ability to navigate the organization and influence decisions
  • Analytic toolset – able to set financial targets and incorporate TCO concepts
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills
  • History in Business Acumen, Planning, and Decision Making
