ISM SENIOR MANAGER - GLOBAL MATERIALS FORECASTING

Job Description: 

ISM is a department in Micron’s Global Procurement focusing on Inbound Supply Management.  As the ISM Senior Manager for Global Materials Forecasting, you will be in a leadership position to collaborate with global teams located at all Front End and Back End manufacturing locations to drive significant future value to the organization.  This role within the Global Procurement department, is blending Supply Chain Planning and Procurement paradigms, and provides a unique platform for transformation. 

Your ISM Forecasting team focus on the aggregated summary of global materials requirements, the sources of the signals, the calculation and platform utilized, and their interdependent constraints.  The goal of this team is to drive the optimization and standardization of centralized forecasting signals and materials requirements schedules across all Front End and Back End manufacturing locations.

 

Collaborating with the other ISM functions of Inventory Management & Supply Fulfillment, success will be defined as a transparent, responsive, efficient, and well aligned supply support process to best position the company’s manufacturing sites to enable hitting the fluctuating demand plan of record and in parallel work inside our working capital thresholds.  This success will manifest itself across ISM areas in a significantly lower count of purchase order expedites and escalations, low instances of factory down time due to materials availability, increased inventory turns, high on time delivery, and differentiated strategies supporting these goals.

 

In this role, you will be developing and executing a holistic improvement strategy across manufacturing locations.  You will have a shared responsibility in the team to develop the improvement strategy by supporting an assessment of current and future needs, an analysis of market and company trends, perform benchmarking of world-class approaches, and identify opportunities to leverage changes in processes, systems and product/services. A key element of this strategy is assessing Micron’s current MRP processes and driving significant improvement in those systems.

 

There will be site specific material categories your team will be tactically accountable to manage, solving issues with the forecast validity and its impacts into procurement and the manufacturing site.  Potentially, you will be assigned other categories and headcount at multiple sites to manage the overall departmental goals.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks:

 

Process & Infrastructure Development

  • Support the global assessment process of current and future needs, and benchmarking of world-class approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage changes in processes, systems and product/services
  • Deliver a continuous improvement and total cost of ownership paradigm
  • Maintain close interaction with procurement category teams to ensure category-related needs are addressed
  • Develop and maintain expertise in global Supply Fulfillment through relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and industry trends.
  • Drive customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement

 

Category Forecast Management

  • Work with direct and cross-functional teams to plan global direction for FE and BE manufacturing sites
  • Ensure stakeholder requirements met by investigating weekly forecast disconnects, and support business partners in resolving to meet the demand volume and timing, limiting negative impacts
  • Manage the actual forecast generation for assigned categories, and deliver to specific suppliers or internal business partners
  • Drive root cause analysis of problems.  Document statistics and trend measurements to capture both minor adjustments to the process and high impact project opportunities for improvement to process and infrastructure

 

Interface with Stakeholders, Procurement Partners, and Suppliers on Global Supply Fulfillment Strategies

  • Constant collaboration with downstream departmental colleagues to  track the effectiveness of the forecast models via co-developed cross functional KPI’s and reports to track and communicate status
  • Provide input to ISM leadership with respect to their discipline/area requirement
  • Communicate goals, supply fulfillment plans, initiatives and targets to stakeholders, suppliers, and global procurement teams
  • Initiate and sustain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage conflict and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Forecasting related functions
  • Previous experience with related Procurement activities such as Inventory Management, Ordering & Expediting, and Category Management
  • Previous experience in leading teams across multiple geographical locations
  • Previous experience with MRP systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
