As a Systems Software Engineer at Micron Technology within the Enterprise SSD development team, you will develop, maintain and support Micron’s SSD device drivers and tools.  You will research, design, implement and document solutions, create and analyze software specifications, and support software throughout the entire life cycle. You must demonstrate the functional and technical skills necessary to switch between development environments and technologies. You will provide solutions that optimize business value while minimizing impact through defects, downtime, or performance degradation.  On an as needed basis, you will coordinate with SSD Design and Validation teams to design, develop, test, train, and implement solutions. You will become an expert in high performance SSD technologies and their use in Enterprise and Cloud computing.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in more than one programming language and the proven ability and desire to learn more (C, C++, C#)
  • Proficiency with your favorite IDE or ticked out editor (Visual Studio, Eclipse, Emacs, VIM)
  • Fundamental understanding of PC systems architectures (UEFI BIOS, NUMA, SMP, PCIe, SMBus)
  • Ability and desire to work with storage devices, adapters, and protocols
    • Ability to comprehend and apply industry standards (T10, T13, NVM-Express, PCI, ACPI, DMTF)
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • High level of self-motivation and self-learning
  • Efficient software behavior analysis skills
    • Ability to discover how and why software works both with and without source code
  • Ability to manage several concurrent projects or tasks
  • Willingness to learn new tools and technologies to support Micron’s changing environment

Additional Qualifications considered:

  • Knowledge and understanding of OS kernel internals (Windows, Linux)
    • I/O packets, I/O request flow, interrupt processing
  • Knowledge and understand of storage controller host to device protocols (AHCI, NVM-Express
  • Knowledge and understanding of storage device protocols (SCSI, SATA/ATA, NVM-Express)
  • Experience with OS in kernel storage device stacks and file system stacks
  • Experience with OS in kernel device driver development
    • Control adapters through BAR space registers, DMA concepts, memory models and memory mapping requirements
  • Experience with kernel debuggers (GDB, WinDbg)
  • Experience with GIT version control system
  • Use of scripting language (PowerShell, Python, UNIX shell; bash, etc.)      


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
