System Architect GPU- Performance Modeling

As a System Architect in the System Modeling Group at Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc., you will work with the memory industry's leading architecture team on new concepts that will shape the future of electronic systems.  A system performance GPU architect will be responsible for evaluating the system and GPU level characteristics and their effect on the memory system.

 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

Researching and documenting the industry state-of-the-art in mobile and client GPUs, and establishing working relationships with external GPU developers.  Building or adapting models to allow graphic/openGL (GPU) and openCL (GPGPU) workloads to be simulated and analyzed.   Developing a methodology for collecting traces from GPU across various platforms.  Developing transaction generators that will drive representative GPU traffic in full system simulations of various product lines.   Leveraging or building models and tools to enable GPU and GPGPU simulations.   Having familiarity with Video engines/drivers is a plus.

 

Candidate will also be performing open- and closed-loop system performance analysis of new advanced architectures in comparison with existing paradigms, and working with internal engineering teams and external customers to optimize and characterize new device components, features, and novel system architectures.   The successful applicant will be responsible for creating innovative solutions, modeling, and analyzing them to demonstrate the benefits and tradeoffs.

 

Successful candidate for this position will have:

 

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of modern GPUs, and video engines
  • C/C++ and SystemC experience; SystemVerilog, and Python experience is a plus
  • Must have an understanding of how to use the Standard Template Library (STL)
  • Exposure to software development practices
  • Experience in modeling for hardware systems
  • A strong knowledge of memory device operation through academic coursework or experience in DRAM and NAND memory systems, as well as other memory types is preferred
  • Exposure to various bus protocols (AMBA, Core Connect, OCP) and network on chip
  • Exposure to ARM based processors is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of architecture tradeoff analysis and modeling tools, commercial and in-house
  • Ability to quickly react and adapt to changes based on modeling results
  • Strong exposure to micro-architecture analysis and implementation
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and written skills
  • Ability to be highly organized and self-motivated
  • Must be a strong individual contributor as well as a team player

 

Education:

A Master’s or equivalent foreign education in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Computer Science and 8+ years with Masters, or a PhD.
