Sr. Director, Mobile Strategy & Future Memories

The Sr. Director, Mobile Strategy & Future Memories is accountable for setting and ensuring execution of strategy for Micron’s Mobile Business Unit (creating and implementing MBU marketing strategies, and leading department-wide planning, processes, systems, and analytics to drive efficiencies and measurable contribution to Micron’s financial and market success) AND defining market and product requirements and system level advantages for Micron’s new memories when used in Mobile applications  (developing go to market strategies for these new memories in Mobile).  You will collaborate with global stakeholders and business partners to enable business objectives and goals through effective project management, business process solutions, and system automation. The ideal candidate is a proven leader and in this role, will focus on developing strategic-customer focused understanding of the mobile and wireless segments, including customer demands and requirements, product and market trends as well as competitive analysis. This is a critical role that requires direct interaction with customers, external partners, and internal engineering/technology constituents. This position reports to the SVP & GM of the Business Unit. This position is offered in Milpitas, CA.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:


  • Drive High-Level Future Strategy for the Business Unit; researching successful industry strategies and collaborating with other business unit teams
  • Understand Market Needs and Wants for Mobile Systems; working with Direct and Indirect (End) Customers and Industry Analysts
  • Develop strategic relationships with channels, developers, and customer to understand opportunities
  • Define market and product requirements and system level advantages for Micron new memories when used in Mobile applications
  • Develop and align go to market strategies for Micron’s new memories in Mobile
  • Develop the relationships and execution strategies for Micron new memories with vertically integrated OEMs in Mobile
  • Develop relationships and execution strategies for Micron new memories with broader ecosystem partners such as Google, Qualcomm and other CSVs
  • Establish and grow a differentiated, high-value memory business for Micron new memories in Mobile
  • Develop and Maintain Strategic Design, Silicon, and Channel Partnerships for MBU Products
  • Drive System Revenue Objectives for the Business Unit, by developing forecasts, marketing plans, and channel strategies to enable sales of MBU products
  • Alignment with Sales, BU Operations and Finance to ensure achievement of revenue and margin objectives
  • Product evangelism both externally and internally
  • Effective team building and leadership
  • Key contributing member of the MBU leadership team

  • Able to solve tough and complex problems in a heavy matrix environment where support comes from nearly every functional department including MBU’s own CSV group, AE/SE, MM & Analytics, Pricing and Strategic Marketing

  • Ability to separate the mission-critical from the nice-to-dos and maintain a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to collaborate, formulate plans, make persuasive presentations, and make midcourse adjustments as the business dynamics dictate will be key factors to this individual's success
  • Manage Diverse Relationships: relates well to a wide variety of diverse styles, open to differences and builds diverse networks
  • High business savvy to work with business partners to create win-win relationship
  • In-depth understanding MBU’s direction and technical background to understand product quality
  • Agility to manage and execute prioritized action items from both tactical and strategic point of views
  • Maintain effective communication with business partners to create win-win relationship



  • An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in a technical discipline, business or other related discipline. 
  • An MBA or other advanced degree is highly desirable.


Travel Requirements:

  • Frequent travel to global Micron sites and customer sites.
