Sr. Director, BU Financial Controller 1

As the Business Unit (BU) Financial Controller at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for the oversite of the Business Unit Financial Management and organization. This will include strategic planning, financial forecasting, analysis of performance to plan, and financial analysis of new products.  You will partner with the Business Unit Executive team to provide data, information and analytics used in making key business and product decisions.  You will develop and track the necessary KPI’s to manage Business Unit performance.

In your role, you will partner and share responsibility for internal Profit and Loss (P and L) management. You will be responsible for the management of your team through performance development and for creating an environment of continuous improvement.           

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Manage Profit and Loss Contribution
  • Partner with the Executive Vice President and staff to develop and implement business plans
  • Drive informed decisions through the communication of financial reporting and analysis
  • Perform strategic planning, financial forecasting and analysis of performance to plan
  • Build forecasts through collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing
  • Identify potential opportunities within the Business Units to improve profit performance through management of product portfolio and wafer allocation
  • Manage the financial impacts of inventory to support customer demand while limiting exposure to obsolescence

  • Maximize Impact to the Bottom Line
  • Manage internal Profit and Loss including revenue, margins and operating expenses
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing and Pricing Teams regarding pricing and customer programs to ensure competitive pricing, performance to plan and profitability
  • Perform financial analysis of product alternatives (i.e., Return on Investment, Net Present Value, Zero Based Budgeting)
  • Guide the business units to achieve a world class, efficient cost structure
  • Supporting the consolidated product and financial roadmap, including new product evaluation, analysis of solutions from partner groups, and changes to existing products.  
  • You will be responsible for managing and providing direction for the individual Business Unit Controller team.  You will drive and ensure the Business Unit Finance function is a collaborative and informed organization, partnering with the business unit teams.

 

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics)

 

Education Desired

  • MBA (Business Administration/Management or equivalent)

 

Experience Required

  • 15+ years’ experience in any of the following:
  • Finance support of: Business Unit or Manufacturing
  • Planning/Forecasting

Travel Required

There will be moderate travel expectations.  Corporate Finance offices are in Boise, Idaho and Business Executive staff is in Milpitas, California.  Travel will be required to ensure appropriate face time with each location; duration of travel will be 2-3 business days, multiple times a quarter; up to 50% of the time.
