SSD Test Process Engineer



Micron is looking for an SSD Test Process Engineer with PCIe (with NVMe protocol) experience, to join the SSD Test Process Development group.  You will contribute to a team effort in taking solid state drives from design to high volume manufacturing. This will involve supporting design engineering leads and manufacturing teams in program planning and management of SSD manufacturing test deliverables.  The test process engineer works with other functional team leads and customers through technical customer managers to capture test process requirements. Once requirements have been understood, the SSD test process engineer works with the product development team to define a test strategy utilizing drive self-test, tester software, and/or factory information systems to meet those needs.  Additional duties performed by the test process engineer include communicating relevant information with the design engineering teams, functional organizations, and the manufacturing teams, monitoring systems integration activities, negotiating deviations in plans and coordinating product relevant test process changes as necessary.

  • Specific duties
    • Defining the Product Manufacturing Test Requirements
    • Executing/debugging software on Test Equipment
    • Coordinating Manufacturing Test Process activities between Hardware and Firmware teams
    • Qualifying Firmware and Software changes to be released to Manufacturing
    • Qualifying the Hardware, Software and Firmware to meet Product Requirements
    • Identifying and Driving Manufacturing Test Yield Issues to closure
    • Analyzing Parametric Data to verify product goals are met
    • Identifying and Driving Test Time reduction opportunities
    • Transferring Manufacturing Test Process to high volume manufacturing facility
    • Manufacturing Test Process Training and Documentation
    • Drive self-test architecture and design


  • Qualifications
    • PCIe experience is required
    • NVMe experience is highly desirable
    • A minimum of 5 years of related working experience
    • Programming Experience in languages such as C++, C, Python and/or Perl
    • Strong hardware knowledge required; hardware knowledge specific to SSDs is preferable
    • Firmware experience on embedded systems highly desirable
    • Self-starter with ability to work independently
    • Good analytical and problem solving skills
    • Works effectively in team environment
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete in a timely manner
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Relational database understanding
    • Willingness to travel (both in US and outside US)


      BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline required.
