As part of the Global Communication & Marketing (GCM) Team, the Internal Communication intern will be an active team member for the global MERC News Channel. Tasks include writing and editing feature stories and other communication.  In addition, the intern will coordinate two-three special projects.


Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role will be, but is not limited to, the following:

  1. Participate within the Micron Employee Resource Center (MERC, Micron's Intranet) Editorial Team
    1. Attend weekly planning meetings
    2. Complete MERC story writing assignments
    3. Assist with copy-editing
    4. Coordinate translation orders for global stories
    5. Identify imagery for global stories; create collections for various themes (such as safety, team member engagement, collaboration)
      1. Help identify which images are missing from our owned images
      2. Compile a list of photos needed to tell compelling team member stories
    6. Create MicronNow digital signage content “foils” (slides)
  2. MicronNow Content Migration
    1. Learn the Omnivex software system
    2. Manage content inventory
    3. Assist in transfer of MicronNow content to Unily intranet platform
  3. New Writing Style for MERC
    1. Become familiar with Internal Communication’s persona research
    2. Audit archived MERC stories
    3. Research other intranet writing styles and contemporary story approaches
    4. Make recommendations on how Micron can increase readership and engagement, globally


  4. New to Micron Blog
    1. Write a blog series on being new to Micron and help devise a process and plan for social sharing



Ideal candidates for this position will have:

  • Good writing skills, including familiarity with good grammar
  • Grasp of journalistic or feature story writing
  • An understanding of how visuals/images augment stories



Must be currently enrolled seeking a degree Communication, Journalism or related discipline. Graduation date should not be before September of 2018.


Position is intended to fill for the Summer of 2018.
