Job Description

As an IT Site Manager, Bay Area at Micron, you will be responsible for IT Services and talent management of the site-level IT workforce. You will be responsible for both implementing new systems and supporting existing systems with multiple business unit. You will provide regular feedback to your direct reports and conduct performance appraisals with your direct reports. You will assist with managing your direct reports’ workloads and resolve issues for your direct reports. You will provide a safe, compliant, and ethical work environment by maintaining current knowledge of requirements and monitoring for compliance of the requirements. 


Responsibilities and Tasks

Act as a liaison between IT and Micron internal customers to meet the internal customers’ needs.

  • Help maintain day-to-day operations by ensuring that the service delivery commitments are met and that technical issues are resolved.
  • Work with BU to prioritize and accomplish identified improvement opportunities.
  • Leverage your experience with IT operations, problem management, change management, escalation management, and root cause analysis in your continuous improvement efforts.

Provide client support.

  • Troubleshoot client issues at the sites.
  • Create knowledge articles, process and procedure documentation, and training materials.
  • Track or review operational support metrics to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met and to identify areas of improvement. 
  • Consult on change management cases to define the work breakdown structure and hours estimate.

Lead a team of IT individual contributors.

  • Set expectations for your direct reports (working hours, taking time off, hours accuracy and compliance, SuccessFactors, etc.).
  • Provide your direct reports with the information, technology, and reference materials necessary to perform their jobs.
  • Identify training needs and ensure that team members are properly trained according to department compliance and work requirements
  • Hold your direct reports accountable for meeting job expectations, and following policies and processes.
  • Coordinate and communicate policies and processes.
  • Work with your direct reports to resolve conflicts and concerns that they have.
  • Approve time-off requests, travel, expense reports, resources, and team member rewards.

Manage your direct reports’ workloads.

  • Partner with site leadership to understand workforce needs.
  • Review team members’ allocations.
  • Analyze workloads, processes, and other metrics to ensure an efficient use of team members.
  • Identify and remove work roadblocks for team members.

Manage your direct reports’ performance and enable their career development.

  • Collaborate with your direct reports to create performance goals that align with and provide line of sight to the strategic objectives and to create development goals to address performance gaps and career development.
  • Meet with your direct reports on a regular basis to build a relationship, build trust and rapport, determine motivators, build engagement, provide job expectations, review performance, determine career aspirations, and provide assistance with issues.
  • Identify and communicate to your direct reports how they can move from one GJS level to the next to enable career advancement.
  • Identify promotable direct reports and execute the Promotion process.
  • Provide recognition to your direct reports.
  • Manage poor performance, following department guidelines, which could include formal corrective action or separation.

Skills you will bring

  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of critical production services
  • You have led/supported teams that built, deployed, and supported distributed, highly available, applications and services on UNIX/Linux platform
  • You have successfully employed an Agile methodology, e.g. Scrum or Kanban, to deliver and improve mission critical services
  • Experience and knowledge of modern automation tooling


  • Experience in supporting CAD manager
  • Experience in OpenStack
  • Some programming experiences


  • Bachelor degree in computer science, information systems or related experience
  • Experience
  • 5 years experience in management
