Procurement Manager


As Procurement Manager supporting the Inventory Management teams at Micron, you will develop and execute a holistic strategy and lead a global team dedicated to this function across the Micron Manassas Virginia location.

In this role you will manage implementation of the inventory strategy by establishing site-specific implementation timing, identifying required implementation resources and developing communication channels and tools to introduce the new strategy. In addition, you will develop and lead the teams at the site to implement this strategy while maintaining current day to day operational activities.

You will assist in the development of the strategy for global inventory by starting an assessment of current and future needs, an analysis of market and company trends, perform benchmarking of world-class approaches, and identify opportunities to leverage changes in processes, systems and product/services. Then prioritize and manage site level implementation based upon estimating timing and level of savings capture.

Other responsibilities include ensuring department compliance to company policies and departmental procedures. You will provide site level leadership for building and implementing department strategies, processes, and policy through active oversight of your functional teams and projects, and mentor area leaders through collaboration and the development of sustainably successful solutions. You will also be responsible for conveying corporate business initiatives, aligning team and individual goals to business objectives, and driving overall high performance within your team and the department.


  Role Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Build and Execute Strategic Improvement Plan
  • Assess current and future needs, market and company trends
  • Perform benchmarking of world-class approaches, and identify opportunities to leverage changes in processes, systems and product/service
  • Work with cross-functional teams to plan global strategic direction and implementation of improvement strategies for all manufacturing sites
  • Recommend targets for OTD, Fill Rate, DTWP, Escalation Occurrences, and Stock Outs
  • Recommend resource levels for site level inventory, projects and functions
  • Manage the and participate in the resolution of any constraints or issues
  • Deliver savings and scorecard metric targets




Lead and Manage Global Inventory Teams

  • Support building of the right inventory management team (recruitment, training, staffing, and retention)
  • Present strategic plan for site level inventory management optimization and report status
  • Build consensus on strategic plan and refine (as required)
  • Provide input on procurement initiatives
  • Assist ISM leadership in building an integrated strategic plan
  • Represent Micron in industry and professional forums


Interface with Stakeholders, Procurement Partners, and Suppliers on Global Supply Fulfillment Strategies

  • Ensure stakeholder requirements met
  • Communicate strategic goals, inventory management plans, initiatives and targets to stakeholders, suppliers, and site procurement teams
  • Maintain relationships with senior executives
  • Initiate and sustain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders


Collaborate with Stakeholders to Deliver Strategic Solutions

  • Develop and maintain expertise in site level inventory management through relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and industry trends.
  • Implement processes to monitor stakeholder satisfaction
  • Drive customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement
  • Maintain close interaction with procurement category teams to ensure category-related needs are addressed
  • Manage conflict and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide advice to senior and executive management on strategic decisions related to the category​​




  • Bachelors/Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in:
    • Business
    • Business Administration/Management
    • Engineering
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Related field of study


  • APICS, PMI, CPM, CPSM Certification or other related fields of study

  • 8 years’ experience in Procurement and Supply Chain
  • Knowledge and application of Should-Cost modeling, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concepts and strategic sourcing process
  • CMP or CPSM Certification or other Procurement certification preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and SAP MM applications
