SSD Validation Steering Team Lead

The SSD Validation Steering Team Lead (VSTL) is the central point of contact for Validation status for SSD products.  This role includes being the VSTL for an SSD product family, a role that includes being the single point of contact for the overall product status and quality, communicating with all Engineering teams and Business Unit, and providing reports to upper management. In this role, you will be involved with the products from initial product development to volume production, ensuring that Validation efforts flow seamlessly between groups, and that tasks are assigned and addressed in a timely manner.  This position also includes driving document deliverables to the Program Managers, generating and tracking Project schedules, and monitoring testing metrics.  As the VSTL you will work closely with the Validation Engineering teams to understand the status and issues associated with the program, coordinate the status of the testing efforts into a product maturity understanding, and work with each team to improve coverage and efficiency.

 

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

Program Management

  • Ensure consistent and effective communication of program/project priorities.
  • Report on project status from a Validation standpoint to upper management
  • Ensure that the Validation team schedules are current and accurate and align with the program schedules
  • Track Validation Engineering status against milestones and key performance metrics
  • Follow up on issues that delay project milestones
  • Audit and provide feedback improvements to the Validation processes used to take programs/projects through to completion

 

Manage project risks and issues

  • Anticipate and highlight potential gaps in any of the sub–processes, as well as work with area owners for improvement.
  • Contribute/Co–Lead problem solving efforts by providing guidance for effective and timely resolution.
  • Identify, understand, and mitigate risk before making critical decisions.

 

Communication

  • Maintain a consistent level of communication with other Engineering and Business teams regarding the Validation status for each product swimlane
  • Relay Validation status to other Validation teams and upper management
  • Work with Design Engineering Lead and Techinical Program Manager to communicate bugs and status
  • Attend meetings as necessary to ensure accurate updates are provided to various stakeholders
  • Ensure that product milestone and roadmap information are accurately communicated with Validation teams and happen via a consistent and singular path guaranteeing accuracy

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Work with other VST Leads to improve metrics and reporting formats
  • Work with Validation teams to improve testing coverage and reporting
  • Work with Engineering teams to reduce time to closure for all issues found during testing

 

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • Achieved at least a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar education
  • Proven knowledge in project or program management fundamentals
  • Experience in and understanding of Solid State Drives
  • Experience with Validating/Testing Solid State Drives
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills in cross-functional setups
  • Demonstrated to be a structure goal-oriented person, able to make decisions in complex situation
  • Proven diligence in following plans while being able to adapt to new boundary conditions
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
