Micron has a large R&D group in Longmont with focus on NAND Flash and SSD Product Development. Longmont is a key development center within Micron for the development of enterprise and cloud data center SSD’s. Micron is now increasing its investment in Longmont as it grows its enterprise SSD product portfolio. Micron continues to rely on building off of the substantial enterprise storage expertise available in the Longmont area.

 

Micron is also consolidating into Longmont all its enterprise and cloud data center SSD Customer Validation Test Lab and Support Center activities. The Micron Support Center will host enterprise and data center customer’s validation teams to enable selection and qualification of Micron SSD’s. Product Validation Engineer

Micron is looking for a NVMe SSD Validation engineer with direct NVMe product validation experience to work in our Longmont, Colorado Enterprise SSD Design Center.  As an NVE SSD Validation Engineer within the Enterprise Solid State Drive (SSD) Engineering group at Micron Technology, Inc., you are responsible for working SSD design teams to create test plans, identify test holes, development of product test, execution of product testing and results reporting of product testing. 

 

For this position, you are required to have good communication, documentation, leadership, problem solving skills, and very good English verbal and written skills.  It is also essential that you have the ability to work in a team environment and work and maintain good relationships with worldwide suppliers and customers. You must have the ability to drive engineering efforts through all aspects of new product development and system level debug. 

Experience in the following areas are required:

  • 2+ years of NVMe architecture development, design and/or test experience;
  • Understanding of SSD architectures;
  • Understanding of NAND technology and architecture;
  • Demonstrated C/C++/python programming;
  • Thorough understanding of logic analyzers, bus analyzers and digital scopes and how to use these tools to debug SSDs or HDDs;

 

The following skills are also desirable:

  • General knowledge of SATA and/or SAS storage protocols is a plus;
  • Ability to read and understand FW code;
  • Experience with FPGA design and FPGA design tools
  • Ability to analyze complex firmware, software, and hardware issues in system
  • Understanding of an Object Oriented Programming language; Python preferred;
  • Experience with Windows and Linux;
  • Ability to analyze problems, diagnose to root cause, and apply corrective actions;
  • Ability to develop product level test plans;
  • Work well with others, work across sites and time zones;
  • Ability to lead a team of validation test engineers;

 

 

Your job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing firmware test and validation, power and performance characterization and margin testing;
  • Test development to SSD design specifications;
  • Development, review and execution of SSD test plans;
  • Performing SSD failure analysis to root cause;
  • Identifying and closing test and process holes;
  • Leading a team of validation engineers;
  • Identifying quality metrics, setting quality expectations and measuring quality improvements;
