DevOps Software Engineer Intern

The Micron IT Engineering Services (EngServ) team embraces the spirit of the DevOps movement.  We provide modern development infrastructure tools to hundreds of teams throughout Micron.  The teams we empower work in every area of the company including engineering, IT, and business.  Our team is helping to improve quality and catalyze development efficiency and effectiveness.


As a member of the EngServ Design team, you will work within a small team of highly experienced software engineers and DevOps design engineers to build software (primarily Python) that makes it possible to configure modern development tools in a highly scalable way.


Some of our tools include Atlassian JIRA (issue/bug tracking, team planning, work management), Atlassian Confluence (engineering wiki), Atlassian Bitbucket (Git repo hosting and code/branch management), jFrog Artifactory (binary artifact management), and Jenkins (continuous integration).  You will write Python scripts to configure and administer these tools in a consistent, maintainable, and trackable way.


You will be enabling teams to more effectively collaborate and contribute to product development flow.  You will gain a deeper understanding of DevOps, Agile, Scrum, Kanban and various frameworks for engineering development process maturity.  You will have a unique vantage point on the huge diversity of technology and work done here at Micron and you’ll be working within a team of passionate and caring individuals dedicated to helping you grow.


The ideal candidate has a strong software/programming background and has a keen interest in contributing significantly to a sophisticated Python codebase by helping to define, create and enhance its modularity, maintainability and robustness.



  • Programming skills in Python (or very similar language), with knowledge of object oriented design
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Good verbal communication skills (English); respectful and empathetic



  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, programming languages and operating systems
  • Knowledge of software engineering tools & methods (e.g. issue/bug tracking, version control, peer review, testing)
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Collaborator, Jenkins, Artifactory or similar tools.
  • Experience providing quality written documentation (English)
  • Experience debugging end-user web-application problems and diagnosing usage/user experience confusion
  • Java programming experience and/or HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Apache and other web technology experience
  • Experience with customer service, especially with highly technical customers (engineers)



Minimum of sophomore (pursuit of Bachelor’s) status in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar.
