CSE SSD Firmware Engineering Intern

As a CSE Solid State Drive (SSD) Firmware Engineering Intern at Micron, you will assist in developing high-performance controller firmware for innovative volatile and non-volatile memory systems. In this position, you will involve in performing failure analysis, evaluating, designing, and building firmware for new high-performance memory controllers and SSD’s that will increase performance, while reducing power, latency and SoC complexity for the target markets. You are expected to work closely with system test engineers, system failure analysis engineers, firmware engineers, firmware test engineers, system hardware design engineers, product engineers, memory design engineers, and production engineers to solve cross-functional product development issues.

 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participate as a team member and work effectively inside and outside of the team
  • Provide technical input back to the team
  • Perform failure analysis on product development issues
  • Developing structured source code targeting the embedded environment associated with state of the art memory
  • Performing design verification using a variety of verification methods, including simulation and product testing
  • Focusing on firmware quality in the system and the target application
  • Participate in SCRUM/agile processes and distributed code reviews
  • Developing new test tools and methods
  • Using analysis equipment or software, you will perform the effective analysis of functional issues with the firmware and hardware in test environments or target host systems

     

    Qualifications:

     

    Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • Good programming skills developing embedded firmware in assembly and C/C++
  • Knowledge of embedded firmware applications
  • The aptitude to analyze complex firmware and hardware issues, apply corrective actions
  • A skill and thought process in problem re-creation and trapping as well as identifying and optimizing performance of critical algorithms
  • The ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems
  • Familiarity with Linux (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with SOC, embedded processors, memory, FPGA, DRAM, NAND  (Preferred)
  • Good communication, documentation, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Very good English verbal and written skills
  • The ability to work and maintain good relationships with fellow employees

     

    Education:

    Minimum of sophomore status in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
