Job Description

As the Japan HR Operations Manager, you will be responsible to lead the Japan HR Operations Team to deliver high quality HR Services in Japan. You will be responsible for the management and development of direct reports to enable superior functional service delivery. You will be responsible for managing and improving functional area performance by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build and execute service strategies aligned to corporate strategic objectives. You will assist with improving individual capability by conducting performance appraisals with team members to create goals and development plans. You will monitor performance metrics to identify and implement continual improvement opportunities. You will also be responsible to train up the local Japan HR Manager to lead the team eventually. Other responsibilities include ensuring organizational compliance to company policies and regulations, as well as to departmental procedures, and providing organizational leadership for building and implementing department strategies, processes, and policy through active participation in functional teams and projects, as well as mentoring other functional leaders through collaboration and the development of sustainably successful solutions.

 

Your area of responsibility will include but not limited to Recruiting, Benefits, Travel, Mobility, Employee Relations, Payroll, Learning and Development.

Manage Functional Area Service Delivery

 

·  Influence and develop functional strategies

 

·  Provide consultation on work execution and problem solving

 

·  Assist in the troubleshooting of escalated issues and provide coaching for resolution

 

·  Coordinate and communicate departmental policy and procedures

 

·  Monitor for adherence to departmental policy and procedures and provide feedback

 

·  Ensure team members are properly trained according to department compliance and work requirements

 

·  Manage Internal budgets

 

·  Manage, engage in, and promote continuous cost reduction and quality improvement efforts

 

·  Identify and implement system and process improvements

 

·  Develop, communicate, and monitor performance metrics

     

Provide Organizational Leadership to Build Functional Strategies, Processes, and Policy

 

·  Create and execute strategies according to requirements (e.g. stakeholder, regulatory, corporate, departmental)

·  Initiate and sustain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders

     

Ensure a Safe, Compliant, and Ethical Work Environment

·  Oversee execution of mandatory training for direct reports

 

·  Identify and resolve and / or report potential safety, security, and labor issues

   

 

Education

Required

 

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

     

 

Experience

Required

 

 

 

·  At least 10 years’ managerial experience in leading Human Resources team in Japan with extensive knowledge of Japan labor law and HR Operations

  • Experience working in a multi-national company or overseas is a strong plus.

·  Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written

 
 

·  Strong data analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Business level English skills
 
 

·  The ability to travel domestically regularly to meet with internal customers, information sharing, and implementation of systems to support the company goals is required
