As the Japan sites Facilities Construction Manager (GJS: M3) you will be responsible for directing and overseeing the site construction, planning and design for all new building construction, remodels to existing buildings, production line layout and tool installs, utility capacity planning, space planning, engineering, building code compliance, and building permitting for Microns sites in Japan.


Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Oversee and Manage Facilities Construction and Engineering Functions 
  • Set direction and ensure implementation of systems and procedures required to attain department goals and objectives
  • Communicate regularly with FMG and other site engineering and construction teams to coordinate engineering and construction methods and standards
  • Manage and coordinate architectural, engineering, and construction contract services to support/augment internal staff efforts
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Safety, Environmental, Risk Management and other stakeholders in the organization to assure coordination of design and construction efforts with all effected groups.
  • Coordinate research and development for investigation of emerging facilities technologies
  • Oversee site master planning activities
  • Oversee coordination of QA monitoring for external contractors to assure contract documents are being followed
  • Oversee Engineering print review programs
  • Maintain communication with Production areas to ensure that present and future needs are being met or exceeded
  • Review vendors as needed to improve systems and processes
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance to identify areas to improve system efficiency


Ensure Compliance

  • Maintain company policy
  • Ensure department operations comply with applicable outside agency rules and regulations
  • Coordinate with internal legal and environmental groups to ensure correct code application
  • Update team on changes in code understanding, as needed
  • Ensure team receives appropriate training based on city, state, and/or federal agency requirements
  • Assess and identify opportunities to reduce and prevent risk


Oversee Budgets and Resources 

  • Oversee the development of Capital requests for Facilities Projects
  • Identify methods for execution of projects and resources required
  • Manage departmental financial budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing expenditures
  • Review and update rolling budget quarterly
  • Work with purchasing for 2nd sourcing and negotiating terms
  • Identify opportunities to reduce or optimize costs
  • Participate in costs reduction/Zero Cost Based Analysis (ZBA) teams
  • Approve new Purchase Orders, Change Orders, and Contract adjustments


Provide Expertise 

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies
  • Direct R&D of new systems, methods, and technologies
  • Provide technical review and design assistance
  • Coordinate engineering methods and standards with Production, R&D, Facilities, and overseas Engineering teams
  • Coordinate design efforts with all affected groups
  • Provide support to Operations and Maintenance Organization

Bi Lingual Japanese and English

Required: Bachelors Degree  - Engineering

License:  Professional Engineer

10+ years construction experience


Desired: Masters Degree  - Engineering

Experience -  20+ years engineering and construction experience

Travel – Extensive travel in Asia
