Job Description

The primary function of an Emergency Response Technician within the Environmental, Health & Safety Department is to be prepared for and respond to unplanned emergency incidents. Types of incidents could include emergency medical services, chemical-related incidents, fire alarms, etc. Emergency Response Technicians ensure that response procedures are safely implemented to lessen the incident's impact to personnel, environment, property, and process. This position also assists with other non-emergency activities such as incident investigation, safety-related inspections, training, equipment maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

 

Job Responsibilities

·       Respond to emergency incidents and safely mitigates hazards

·       Respond to emergency medical incidents and render aid

·       Assists with recovery efforts after an incident

·       Investigate reported safety concerns

·       Support other EHS related efforts through inspections and audits

·       Respond to permit-to-work requests

·       Perform area or equipment decontamination

·       Clean, inspect, and maintain emergency response equipment

·       Acquires and maintain a thorough knowledge of site-specific hazards, response procedures, equipment, and training

·       Participates in, and successfully completes training activities

·       Enter inspections and responses into reporting software's

·       Works in a safe manner and addresses all identified unsafe conditions/activities per Micron policy.

 

Qualifications

·       High school diploma/GED (or international equivalent)

·       Can hear, read and write

·       Valid driver's license

·       Ability to stay calm and direct actives during high-stress situations

·       Ability to pass and maintain required technical training

·       Can lift/carry up to 20 kilograms

·       Be in good physical condition

·       Work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays

·       Work overtime as required

·       Can be medically cleared to wear respiratory protection

·       Function as part of a team

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

·       Strong communicator

·       Can wear chemical protective suits

·       Can climb a ladder and work from height

·       Self-motivated with ability to prioritize and organize work
