As Director of Japan Technology Center for Micron, you would be responsible for success and technology enablement of DRAM technology nodes.  The individual in this role is responsible for transferring new technology node for DRAM that enables a competitive DRAM technology node and through collaboration with Technology Development Core team delivers advanced DRAM technology solutions. Through working with internal global team, s/he drives technical support from technical point of view.

They define and lead complex, multi-disciplinary teams of critical importance to the organization and the future of the company.  Sets group objectives in alignment with R&D objectives and take responsibility for group deliverables.

The Director of Japan Technology Center will support innovation and drive for changes in current industry practice that will provide Micron with a technical advantage over its competition.  S/he drives area level development and may involve large projects that promote strategic technology success.


Additional Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • New tech-node transfer and support from technical point of view
  • Enables early new technode introduction into manufacturing in the early development stage with minimal disruption to manufacturing priorities
  • Carry the new technology node towards mature manufacturing capability, driving critical program metrics jointly with manufacturing
  • Move learning into manufacturing from next node in development in R&D.
  • Enable applicable manufacturing learning move into R&D
  • Work with manufacturing fabs to facilitate successful transfer of new technology.
  • Mentor, develop and motivate senior leaders
  • Maintain efficient and effective allocation of resources to ensure optimal performance of the team
  • Demonstrate effective technology decision making.  
  • Be fully aware of the competitive landscape and the threat to Microns strategy.
  • Work effectively with other department leaders to drive company strategy and initiatives
  • Understand the impact and implications of R&D strategy to the overall company strategy and ensure alignment.
  • Review, establish and prioritize projects/processes that support R&D objectives and enhance the organization’s performance.
  • Maintain area procedures and training required to ensure legal compliance and conformance to management system.



  • At least 10 years of experience in Semiconductor industry; at least 10 years in R&D preferred
  • Managed PI or Process development team during tenure
  • Established experience in hiring skilled individuals, setting strategy for large groups, proven track record of technology execution, and understanding of R&D to manufacturing transfer
  • Master’s Degree in Materials Science or Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or related fields in similar disciplines; Ph.D preferred
