Engineering Operation Technician

As an Engineering Services (ES) Operations Technician for Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for supporting, Inventory Control, Backend Test, Probe, SSD and Environmental Burn-in and Stress labs. Within these areas you will be responsible for managing material, performing equipment setups, firmware validation, product and package qualification and supporting engineering experiments.  In this role you will work with various teams on insuring data integrity, monitoring results, providing shift and daily pass downs, and assist Equipment Maintenance by means of being the first level equipment trouble shooting support. Assist with developing test solutions as needed and work with Management on improving efficiencies within the business operation. You will also be required to follow all safety guidelines, and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) for maintain area certifications.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

Receiving and Issuing Product

  • Receive Product
  • Verify product identification
  • Ensure packaging contents
  • Verity material integrity
  • Track failures and or transfer material
  • Communicate material status
  • Issue material
  • Pack and Ship material

     

Determine Test Platforms for Testing Products

  • Verify system set-up or enter request
  • Verify material and traveler
  • Determine product test priorities
  • Physically enter product into lot tracking system


Verify Systems and Request Change Overs

  • Submit and document request for equipment change over
  • Setup engineering test platforms
  • Verify system configuration

     

Testing Package and Products Devices

 
  • Load test material onto the test platform
  • Load test program on the test platform
  • Trouble shoot test start related issues
  • Document trouble shooting issues
  • Monitoring test integrity
  • Re-test failures per specifications
  • Unload devices and mark failures

 

Tracking Test Results

  • Verify lot integrity
  • Separate failures and good product
  • Track Results
  • Determine material location for next step

 

Communicate Workstation and Product Status

  • Communicate with Engineering for engineering work request
  • Provide verbal and written pass down
  • Provide first level trouble shooting support
  • Develop and update documentation and specification as needed
  • Report and down equipment issues
  • Communicate with areas leadership

     

Maintain Work Environment

  • Follow Electro Static Discharge (ESD) specifications
  • Follow lab manual and safety procedures, report any issues
  • Maintain area ISO/TS Certification

     

Monitor On-Going Product

  • Receive product
  • Verify product integrity
  • Perform electrical test
  • Track released special work request (SWR) material as per request
  • Track lot progress

     

    Operate and Maintain Equipment

  • Verify that machines are logged accurately
  • Operate and troubleshoot variety of equipment and machines
  • Monitor equipment performance discrepancies and communicate to appropriate personnel
  • Ability to use Linux and Microsoft Operating systems
  • Ability to setup and trouble shoot small test equipment, analyzers, power supplies and thermal units.
  • Make suggestions to increase quality and efficiency of processes

     

Troubleshoot Problems with Equipment and Product

  • Log machine issues when necessary
  • Display an appropriate sense of urgency and prioritize machine alarms
  • Use problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot, and suggest resolutions to appropriate personnel

     

Ensure Quality of Process and Product

  • Run equipment based on current process requirements (e.g. procedures, change notifications, etc.)
  • Perform required machine checks, buddy checks (when applicable), and surveillance
  • Verify lot information in product tracking systems
  • Perform SPC checks (when required) and enter accurate data
  • Prevent scrap by using proper handling methods for transporting product and supplies

     

Demonstrate Initiative

  • Perform assigned tasks on time and follow through with commitments without being reminded
  •  Accept responsibility and be accountable for performance
  •  Remain productive during process machine idle times - seek out tasks
  •  Contribute to the cleanliness of the area

     

Contribute to a Safe and Compliant Work Environment

  • Identify and promptly report hazards
  •  Follow safety procedures and area work rules (including use of proper PPE and chemical safety)
  •  Use proper lifting techniques and work in an ergonomically correct manner
  •  Operate and maintain equipment and tools within manufacturer and company guidelines

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • AS Degree Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or military experience, 4 + years’ experience in the related field
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine and non-routine problems
  • Strong PC Skills, proficient in MS Office
  • Experience with any programming or scripting language a plus
  • Solder and rework skills a plus
