Job Description

As a Sr. Financial Planning Analyst – SpecTek Area Support at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be the primary finance business partner to the SpecTek manufacturing operations and sales teams.  You will be responsible for using and coordinating multiple sources of data in order to provide stakeholders with information about both actual and forecast results to assist management in making good business decisions. You will analyze data for trends, identify discrepancies, and explain variances to help management understand their financial results. You will support near term (within 6mos) sales plans by coordinating meetings and discussions in support of the weekly flash forecast and preparation of the quarterly finance business plan (sales lock).  In addition, you will work with the SpecTek management team to build the quarterly manufacturing expense budget/forecast and track actual results versus plan.  You will perform product costing activities for Boise site based activities and be responsible for related SOX controls.  Finally, you will also be responsible for performing customer specific requests and ad hoc reporting. You will present your analysis to the various stakeholders through face to face meetings and phone conferences.

 

 

In your role, you must develop highly effective working relationships with operational managers, and manufacturing finance teams at other Micron sites.  You will also work closely with the Sales, Supply Chain and Area finance teams on developing consistent reporting and analysis, and establishing uniform processes, and decision support.

 

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

     

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Analysis:

  • Prepare, analyze and present analyses to support site operational decisions; including quantitative analysis of cost vs. benefits of financial projects, NPV and ROI for spending, etc.
  • Continuous review of financial analysis methods and tools; implement improvements as needed in order to improve the quality of analysis
  • Understand and articulate financial concepts/analyses; attention to detail and be able to tailor the presentation/level of details appropriately

Decision Support:

  • Serve as the primary financial analyst for SpecTek, supporting management and the Sales Finance Controller in preparation of investment studies, headcount and spending analysis, and cost reduction project evaluation
  • Work closely with cross-functional team to deliver complete, concise, and consistent review of financial analysis and benchmarking
  • On-going support of management information request and special projects as assigned

Planning and Reporting:

  • Monthly review and analysis of actual reported process costs and comparison to plan
  • Quarterly review and analysis of projected process costs and comparison to prior plan(s) and established goals and benchmarks
  • Monthly review of reported cost to ensure consistent capture of data to enable internal and external benchmarking efforts
  • Ongoing support of management information requests and special projects as assigned by management
  • Ensure ongoing consistency and relevance of data that is made available to Manufacturing management
  • Continuously work to improve the coordination and communication amongst the various site and global finance teams
  • Support the business planning cycle through data analysis and participation in the budget process
  • Perform product costing for MTI based activity and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable SOX controls.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • At least 4 years of Accounting or Finance experience
  • Proficient in Excel and Powerpoint; SAP experience an advantage
  • Experience in Cognos Analyst, TM1 and/or Tableau a plus
  • Excellent communications skills; both verbal and written
  • Ability to forge strong and effective working relationships across a variety of stakeholder groups
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Flexibility towards continually changing environment and reporting needs
  • Continuously work to improve existing processes
