As a Sr. Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst in Engineering Operations group at Micron Technology Inc., you will be responsible for working closely with the key business partners & stake holders, understand the business well enough to be able to recommend, establish and monitor key metrics & performance Indicators (KPIs) critical to measuring strategic goals of achieving operational excellence. As a part of this effort, you will also be responsible for identification of efficiency and effectiveness metrics for process improvement opportunities and measurement of effective execution.

 

The ideal candidate needs to have experience in establishing crisp data insights and metrics enabling data driven business decision making process to achieve business goals.

 

You will also be responsible for designing solutions for creation, maintenance, and overall management of supporting actionable data, as well as online reporting environments and business systems. In this role, you will be a provider of industry intelligence to support the initiatives on the department roadmap. As a member of the Engineering Operations team you will also help facilitate the adoption best known industry metrics.

 

Key expectations / responsibilities of this role:

 

  • Close partnership and co-ordination with business partners and stake holders in defining, managing and monitoring key metrics & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) critical to identification of process improvement opportunities and measurement of effective & efficient execution.
  • Strive to understand the business well enough to be a driving force in establishing best in class metrics which provide a clear line of sight to corporate strategic mission and values.
  • Conduct analysis of findings and offer action-driven recommendations and insights to leaders and managers based on data/insights.
  • Build awareness of industry metric benchmarks / trends and share with business partners & leadership.
  • Focus on continuous assessment of data, information shared and the accompanying business decisions. Pro-actively provide data support with the ability to clearly articulate the business improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-changing environment that requires a high degree of multitasking with minimal supervision 
  • Key Partnership and co-ordination with BI groups within Engineering Operations and other function areas like IS, Supply-Chain, Back End and Front End Manufacturing etc.
  • Identify quick-wins which can be delivered as interim solutions followed by planning & leading implementation of a long term sustainable BI Solutions.
  • Perform high-level data analysis, dashboard interface design, develop user acceptance testing (UAT) criteria, and BI documentation
  • Collect, prepare, and model existing or new datasets to provide answers to the business questions and highlight gaps in the process. Establish a feedback and continuous improvement process.
  • Understand how to elicit requirements from the business to lead efforts to design, develop and deliver strategic, tactical, and operational dashboards. This also includes subject area analysis, and support of performance management methodologies.

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with proven track record of working with business management on advanced business analysis focused on business improvements.
  • Experience in creating visualization of information (Dashboard and Scorecard) is a must.
  • Extensive experience in end to end BI solutions development life cycle including Data extract, transform and load (ETL) development, testing and deployment.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in delivering Data Science solutions would be a definite plus.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in project planning & management tools such as Microsoft Project.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Excellent analytical skills with strong statistical interpretation ability of quantitative data.
  • Demonstrate excellent cross-functional problem solving skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and possess good attention to details.
  • Be proficient in all aspects of BI /Data Solutions and Information Management processes, technologies and architectures such as 
    • Dimensional data modeling principles (star and snowflake schemas, de-normalized data structures, slowly changing dimensions, etc.) necessary for implementing efficient BI solutions.
    • Physical data architecture options such as enterprise data warehouse, data federation, hub & spoke architectures, independent data marts  
    • Data integration tools and techniques such as ETL (Extract Transform Load), CDC (Change Data Capture)  
    • Co-ordination with relevant related areas such as data quality, master data management, metadata management, collaboration and business process management  
    • Well versed with BI tools like Microsoft BI tool stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), Power BI, Tableau etc.
    • Well versed with T-SQL and BI tools like Microsoft BI tool stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), Tableau, etc.
    • Strong database knowledge, database administration skills, and experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse. Fluent in T SQL
  • General purpose programming languages is desired (Python, JavaScript, C++, Windows PowerShell, Visual Basic) and/or web development languages.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines and work outside a normal "business hours" work day when required

 

Education:

A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering or computer science or business administration.
