Senior Financial Accountant (PERM)

As a Sr. Financial Accountant at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of prepaid expenses, payroll accruals, payroll taxes, and employee benefits into the General Ledger and assist in the accounting and reconciliation of intercompany activity between Micron subsidiaries.  In this position you will prepare and review monthly account reconciliations, prepare and review journal entries, and perform monthly and quarterly fluctuation analysis which will include researching, identifying, and documenting variance justifications.  Additional responsibilities include providing data to customers, management, and auditors, providing consultation and training to customers, mentoring members of your team, leading aspects of ad hoc projects, maintaining knowledge of policies and regulatory compliance regulations, and presenting information to finance management.


Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:


  • Prepare Journal Entries and Review for Accuracy
  • Collect data from financial systems and customer reporting
  • Analyze and review data to determine appropriate entries
  • Document justifications for entry
  • Post entries into the General Ledger (GL)
  • Provide hardcopy data backup
  • Perform and Validate Monthly Account Reconciliation
  • Run reports to identify financial activities
  • Validate beginning and ending balances between Reconciliation and SAP accounts
  • Research and provide detail of activity for each account 
  • Monitor and investigate account discrepancies 
  • Document unusual activity
  • Prepare Monthly Account Fluctuations
  • Obtain and review balance reports by accounts and functional areas
  • Identify account threshold and determine larger variances
  • Research, identify, and document variance justifications
  • Follow-up on discrepancies and perform appropriate actions as necessary
  • Perform Accounting Research and Provide Consultation
  • Field questions from auditors regarding assumptions and judgments
  • Field internal customer questions regarding expense and journal entries
  • Present data to internal customers upon request and provide consultation
  • Identify potential issues, research applicable Accounting literature, and propose solutions to finance management
  • Maintain expertise of internal policy and regulatory compliance requirements (SOX, GAAP, etc.)
  • Lead subtasks of ad hoc projects for cross-functional teams
  • Provide training to internal customers and peers
  • Provide special reports for finance management
  • Corporate Accounting
  • Review and analyze the consistency of subsidiary accounting (for areas of expertise)
  • Consolidate financial information of subsidiaries
  • Communicate with subsidiaries and report significant transactions and fluctuations


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Advanced/extremely proficient Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with General Ledger account reconciliation and Journal Entries
  • Experience with general ledger account and financial statement fluctuation analysis
  • Experience with US GAAP
  • Experience with SOX requirements
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, if necessary

Hours of work:    Usually 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; also must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary


Degree Required:              BS or equivalent foreign education

Academic Discipline(s):      Accounting or Finance, Business Administration or International Business

Experience Required:        Three years of progressive post-graduate experience
