SIG Process Engineering Lead

Job description:

As the SIG Process Engineering Lead, you will implement and analyze manufacturing engineering plans and projects. You will have a team of engineers and technicians that will develop manufacturing engineering plans and strategies for specific products and processes. The Prototype efforts that you will manage will revolve around; working directly with customers to understand special requirements as well as process capabilities; working with the prototype execution team (internally and externally); drive a successful transition from prototype to HVM (high volume manufacturing) for internally used test equipment for Micron. Your success will be measured on how we develop and validate manufacturing processes for the end product, and the success of fanned-out to remote sites.


As process engineering manager, you will have a broad application of manufacturing principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields. You will provide resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems. You must use judgment within defined policies and practices, and work under limited direction. You will determine and develop different approaches to needed solutions. Your work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. You will contribute to the development of the organization’s goals and objectives. Failure to obtain results or erroneous judgments or recommendations would normally have serious results and may require substantial expenditure of resources to correct and/or achieve project goals.


Responsibilities and Tasks

Support Prototype Product and Flexible Manufacturing

  • Evaluate new risks identified with new products and provide engineering solutions and train workforce if necessary 
  • Monitor new product quality indices and bring it to maturity level 
  • Feedback to design group on problems, potential problems / opportunities and DFM guideline.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and gains their trust and respect, including Design, Production and Planning.
  • Creates a strategy to develop new capabilities or to overcome the identified process constraints


Future Process/Material Development 

  • Perform research, market survey on new process, equipment or material based on forecasted customer’s needs. 
  • Conduct evaluation or experiment on new process or material and benchmarking on new equipment. 
  • Apply decision making methodologies for selection of new process/equipment/material 
  • Manage change of implementation of new process/equipment/material which includes process specification, training material and SOP.    


Ensure manufacturing readiness and scaling to volume manufacturing

  • Support the development of a quality plan
  • Enable and support contract manufacturing processes for scaling to volume
  • Responsible for MR - manufacturing readiness of all new products
  • Provide the necessary contract manufacturing technical support by products
  • Drive continuous improvement projects 


Exhibit Functional and Technical Skills 

  • Apply design of experiment (DOE) techniques as applicable and uses available resources to help determine root cause, optimize, and evaluate variables. 
  • Develop action plans for projects and process improvements and manage them through to completion. 
  • Serve as a project lead or team member for new or existing tools to coordinate tool facilitation/qualification, preventive maintenance/calibration routines, and coordinate skills training and documentation needs for technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Use proven engineering methods to solve problems and provide effective solutions and Identify root causes of problems.


Education Required 

Bachelor’s Degree 

  • Engineering - Electrical
  • Engineering - Industrial
  • Engineering - Materials Science
  • Engineering - Mechanical


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong team building skills 
  • Able to work independently and in a cross functional team environment
  • Detail oriented with good problem-solving skills
  • Strong statistical analysis skills (Process Capability, SPC, DOE)
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and manufacturing software support systems (JMP, MAM, SAP, Share Point, MS Office, etc.)
  • Able to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of IPC-610
