DRAM Engineering Group-Product Planner

As a DRAM Engineering Group (DEG) Product Engineering (PE) Planner at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for supporting product lines throughout the life of the product. During the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase, you will be responsible for aggregating internal engineering demand and providing a forecast for development.  You will take a variety of inputs and create, manage and prioritize commitment dates for both internal and external customer requests. You will determine what supply will be used for what demand, direct material tactically through Manufacturing and sample material for data/qualification purposes.  During both the NPI and High-Volume phase (HVM), you will be responsible for facilitating engineering experiments, for releasing held inventory, and for assisting with special requests.  This position works directly with Supply Chain, Marketing, Manufacturing, Program Managers, Business Operations and Engineering across many different countries. 


Responsibilities and Tasks include, but not limited to:


NPI Phase-

  • Collect materials for and host product kickoff meetings
  • Use a variety of data inputs and collaborate with multiple groups to determine and set internal/external customer commitment dates
  • Tactically ensure Micron is executing to commitment dates and communicate changes as needed
    • Continuously review and update Material Availability Dates (MAD) and track completion
  • Manage backend supply of material during New Product Introduction (NPI) phase         
  •  Coordinate priorities of product in manufacturing as defined by Marketing and Engineering
  • Coordinate shipments with Marketing and Finished Goods (FG)
  • Sample material for qualification and tactically build product for engineering data


NPI/High Volume Phase-

  •  Identify and tag specific material as requested
  •  Direct unique/special customer sample builds
  •  Execute engineering builds for data collection including but not limited to
  •  Assembly build requests
  •  Module build requests
  •  Fuse sorts
  •  Verify and ensure product exception flows are set for specified materials
  •  Release held material when dispositioned, including the facilitation of rescreen activities           
  •  Provide consultation services to multiple departments (BU, Sales, QA, MPS, etc.) regarding material and shipment issues
  •  Create and manage Customer Containment Rules (CCRs) initiated by Product Engineering



  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills  
  • The ability to work independently in a very fast paced environment and adapt to daily changes
  • The drive to investigate root-cause and provide corrective action for system inefficiencies
  • Very strong spreadsheet skills (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple projects
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures and with cross-functional teams
  • Availability to attend evening meetings as needed
  • Experience in Micron manufacturing outside of the fab, such as back end and SIG; preferred but not required
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP Production Modules. Material Master, BOMs, MRP, etc. (Preferred)



A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Production and Operations Management (POM), Business or related field of study.
