Process Control Engineer - Technology Development R2R

As a Process Control Engineer at Micron, you will be a member of the Research and Development PCS team responsible for developing and driving process control solutions for Micron.  In this position, you will collaborate with process areas to identify control opportunities and develop automated control systems to reduce process variation. You will collaborate with global teams to transfer control solutions and align control strategies. You will work with area-level representatives to understand the characteristics of the process, identify tuning parameters and their associated metrology responses.  In addition to the development of logic for automated control systems, you will also be responsible for the monitoring and continuous improvement of your control solutions. You will work with peers in fault detection, statistical process control and data science to identify and deliver innovative solutions to current Technology Development control needs.


• Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control

• Strong analytical problem-solving and data analysis skills

• Understanding of advanced data analysis and machine learning methods

• Familiarity with Big Data platforms such as Hadoop and Teradata a plus

• The ability to learn new process control tools quickly and work independently with minimal supervision

• Experience developing, teaching, and presenting technical subjects

• Experience in other Process Control Systems (PCS) subjects is a plus;  Fault Detection and Classification (FDC),  Run-to-Run Control (R2R),  Scheduling or Sampling, Process Metrology, and Interfacing with semiconductor process equipment

• Effective organizational and decision-making abilities

• Excellent oral and written communication and listening skills

• Ability to balance multiple critical priorities simultaneously

• A high level of commitment with a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done

• Programming and scripting experience a plus (e.g. JMP scripting, RegEx, SQL, PERL, xml structure, C++, or VB experience)

• The ability to travel (may be required at times)

• General semiconductor process knowledge


A BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field, or an equivalent Micron job standing of Engineer or higher is required.
